Which Chinese SUV is supposed to go 745 miles?
Engineerine and Interesting Engineering identified GAC’s Hyptec HL as the vehicle associated with the headline. The model is described as a large premium SUV offered in both battery-electric and extended-range forms. The available reporting does not establish whether the 745-mile figure belongs to one particular trim, an extended-range configuration or a specific certification cycle.

That distinction matters. A battery-electric vehicle uses stored electricity for all propulsion, while an extended-range vehicle may combine a battery with an onboard combustion generator. A combined figure for the latter is not directly comparable with the driving range of a battery-only SUV.

Is the 745-mile range realistic?
It may be a valid certified figure for a particular configuration, but the number cannot be interpreted without its test standard. China’s CLTC cycle generally produces a higher headline range than Europe’s WLTP cycle, while the U.S. EPA procedure is typically more conservative. TechYorker notes that the cycles use different speeds, temperatures, accessory loads and assumptions; one cycle’s miles are not interchangeable with another’s.
Until GAC identifies the cycle and trim, 745 miles should be read as a claimed maximum rather than an expected highway-trip distance. Cold weather, high speeds, hills, passengers, cargo and climate control can all reduce usable range. For an extended-range version, the figure may also combine electric and generator operation, which should be reported separately from battery-only range.

Can it really charge from 30% to 80% in 10 minutes?
The 10-minute statement describes a 50-percentage-point charging window, not a 0–100% charge. Engineerine and Interesting Engineering associate it with higher-rate Hyptec HL variants. Interesting Engineering separately reported approximately 15 minutes for entry rear-wheel-drive electric variants.

- Battery temperature: A cold pack may limit power until it warms. Preconditioning before arrival can help.
- Starting state of charge: The reported window starts at 30%, where a battery can generally accept more power than it can near full.
- Charger capability: The vehicle, cable and charging station must all support the required voltage and current. A lower-rated station will take longer.
- Station sharing: Some sites divide available power between two connected vehicles.
- Taper near 80%: Battery-management software normally reduces power as the pack approaches a high state of charge.
Because no published charging curve or peak-kilowatt figure is established here, the 10-minute result cannot be converted into a guaranteed road-trip charging time. It also should not be used to promise that every Hyptec HL trim, every station or every climate will deliver the same result.

What charger would a Hyptec HL owner need?
The connector and electrical specifications are not confirmed in the available material. Do not assume that a North American CCS, European CCS2, Chinese GB/T or another connector will fit an imported or locally sold vehicle.
- Confirm the exact vehicle trim and market from the VIN, order sheet or official GAC/Hyptec documentation.
- Verify the car’s AC and DC connector standards, voltage range and maximum current.
- Match those limits to the charging station; the station’s advertised peak is not automatically the vehicle’s accepted rate.
- Check whether battery preconditioning can be scheduled for a DC fast-charging stop.
- Ask the seller which network memberships, adapters and payment systems work in the intended country.
- Use a portable EV charging cable only after its connector and current rating are confirmed for that specific vehicle; the available reports do not establish Hyptec HL compatibility.
Until an official specification is available, a dealer’s statement about connector type should be treated as a compatibility check, not a substitute for the manufacturer’s technical documentation.

Before considering an import, verify homologation, service coverage, parts supply, software-region restrictions, charging compatibility and warranty validity with GAC or an authorized local distributor.
What would confirm the headline?
An authoritative specification should identify the exact trim and powertrain, name the range test cycle, state whether the figure is battery-only or combined, and publish battery capacity, connector type, peak DC power and a charging curve. It should also define the conditions behind the 30–80% result, including battery temperature, charger output and whether preconditioning was used.
Bottom line
The GAC Hyptec HL is the best match for the Chinese SUV headline, but 745 miles remains a maximum claim without a confirmed cycle and trim. The 10-minute figure applies to a 30–80% session on higher-rate versions under favorable conditions; it is not a universal 0–100% promise. Treat the numbers as provisional until GAC publishes market-specific technical details.
