Available evidence does not establish an inventory of 20 personally owned cars. The clearest documented examples are a Range Rover and Jaguar F-Type he described as his cars in 2025, his former Ferrari F355 GTS, and several admired or television-featured cars that should not be counted as confirmed personal property.
Does Jeremy Clarkson own 20 cars?
There is no substantiated list of 20 cars in Clarkson’s personal collection in the available sources. A car appearing on Top Gear or The Grand Tour does not, by itself, establish that he owned it. The evidence supports a smaller, more precise account: some personal cars identified in a dated interview, a Ferrari he bought and later gave away, cars he has expressed interest in owning, and vehicles selected for a television episode.

That distinction matters because a headline or episode can make a “collection” sound like an inventory. The examples below are grouped by what the sources actually establish, rather than padded into a 20-car ownership list.

Cars Clarkson identified as his in 2025
In a 10 September 2025 Top Gear interview, Clarkson described driving an 18-year-old Range Rover and a 12-year-old Jaguar F-Type. Those ages refer to his remarks at the time of the interview; they do not identify the Range Rover’s trim or establish a current ownership record.
#1 Best Overall
Range Rover: a preference for physical controls
Clarkson’s explanation was practical rather than nostalgic alone: he valued being able to use physical buttons without navigating touchscreen menus. He said: “The reason I drive an 18-year old Range Rover and a 12-year old Jag is it’s got buttons. If I want to change from navigation to music or turn the heating up a bit I don’t have to go into a menu – I just do it.” The interview establishes his use of an older Range Rover in 2025, not its precise specification or whether it remains his car today.
Jaguar F-Type: a car he said worked
In the same interview, Clarkson said he adored his F-Type and that it had worked reliably for him: “Here’s the thing: it works. So there is simply no reason for selling it.” He reported buying it for £20,000 with 20,000 miles on the clock. Those are Clarkson’s retrospective figures in the September 2025 interview, not an independently audited purchase record or a current used-car valuation.

Former ownership: the Ferrari F355 GTS
Clarkson’s most clearly documented former ownership in these sources is a Ferrari F355 GTS. RM Sotheby’s says he bought the 1996 car new after declaring the F355 “The best car in the world.” The auction house describes it as a Rosso Corsa GTS with Crema leather and sports seats, and notes that it appeared in The Sunday Times and Top Gear magazine.

The auction house announced it as a consignment to its Cliveden House auction scheduled for 8 July 2025, with a presale estimate of £180,000–£220,000. That estimate was historical and does not establish the car’s realized sale price or present value.

Cars Clarkson has said he would like to own
A 4 March 2026 Top Gear report distinguishes Clarkson’s admiration from ownership. Neither car in this section should be counted as a verified acquisition on the basis of that report.
Lexus LFA: an unrealized wish
Clarkson said, “An LFA still lives in my head as a car I’d love to own.” The report describes the Lexus as a limited-edition 5.0-litre supercar and recounts Clarkson’s pleasure in driving one: “I thought ‘oh my god this is just absolute joy’.” His enthusiasm and experience behind the wheel are evidence of admiration, not ownership.
Lamborghini Revuelto: a stated preference
The same report says Clarkson would quite like a Lamborghini Revuelto if he could buy anything that day. It quotes him calling it “astounding, so unbelievably exciting, what a Lamborghini should be.” This is an expressed preference, not evidence that he bought one.
Cars chosen for The Grand Tour finale
The Lancia Montecarlo, Ford Capri 3-litre, and Triumph Stag featured in The Grand Tour: One for the Road, the presenters’ final episode. An About Amazon UK interview describes the premise as taking cars the presenters liked. Clarkson discussed the idea in those terms, while James May said they wanted to be genuinely curious about and invested in the cars.
Best Value
May also recalled Clarkson’s connection to the Lancia: “I know Jeremy’s story about looking through the dealership window longingly at the Lancia as a young man is true because I used to go past the same place, and I know exactly what he’s talking about.” That anecdote supports the car’s personal significance and the episode’s nostalgic angle. It does not confirm Clarkson owned the Montecarlo, Capri, or Stag.
How to read claims about Clarkson’s car collection
When a car is described as part of Clarkson’s collection, check what kind of evidence is attached to the claim. The sources here support different levels of certainty:
- Personal cars at a stated time: Clarkson’s September 2025 interview identifies the Range Rover and F-Type he said he drove.
- Former ownership and provenance: RM Sotheby’s account documents the Ferrari’s purchase and later departure from his collection.
- Television use or episode context: A car featured in a programme may have been selected for filming without being Clarkson’s personal property.
- Admiration or intent: Saying he would like to own a car is not the same as acquiring it.
No total count or overall valuation of Clarkson’s personal collection is established by these accounts. In particular, the Ferrari’s 2025 presale estimate cannot be combined with remarks about other cars to produce a collection value.
