The millions in the headline are hypothetical arithmetic, not a documented bill or saving.
Where is Koru reportedly docked?
Supercar Blondie reported on October 2, 2026, that Koru had arrived in Auckland after cruising in the Pacific. A September 29 report by Luxurylaunches placed the yacht at Silo Superyacht Marina and described the facility as offering maintenance and provisioning services. These are media reports of a changing location; no official confirmation from Bezos or the marina is cited.

The reports do not establish that Koru is undergoing repairs there. Luxurylaunches cited MarineTraffic for the yacht’s route, while its precise-berth claim was attributed to a Reddit user, so the exact berth should be treated as unverified.

Supercar Blondie says qualifying repair and maintenance work on temporarily imported boats may be charged at 0% GST, compared with New Zealand’s standard 15% rate. That is a reported, conditional treatment—not confirmation from a tax authority that Koru or any particular job meets the requirements. A yacht’s location alone does not establish eligibility.

What is known about Koru?
Architectural Digest identifies Koru as a 417-foot (127-meter) Oceanco-built yacht delivered in 2023. Its exact price is unknown; the publication cites an estimate of about $500 million. That figure is an estimate, not a confirmed purchase price.

The same profile describes the yacht as having three masts, a pool and three Jacuzzis. Its support vessel, Abeona, was built by Damen Yachting and has a helipad and hangar. Those specifications help explain the scale of the operation, but do not establish any Auckland service booking.

Has Koru had maintenance elsewhere?
Cadena SER reported that Koru spent several days at Navantia in Cartagena on August 19, 2024, for small maintenance tasks. The shipyard did not disclose details, citing confidentiality. That earlier service call shows that maintenance has been reported at another shipyard; it is not evidence of work in Auckland.
The yacht’s size can also affect where it can berth. The Maritime Executive reported in November 2023 that Koru used a commercial pier at Port Everglades because its 417-foot length exceeded a nearby marina’s reported 400-foot maximum berth. This is context for the infrastructure a vessel of this length may require, not proof that Auckland repairs are underway.

What remains unconfirmed?
- Official confirmation of Koru’s current berth in Auckland.
- Whether the yacht has commissioned maintenance there.
- Whether any work would qualify for the reported 0% GST treatment.
- Whether any tax saving has been calculated or realized.
Until those points are confirmed, the defensible conclusion is limited: Auckland has been named in reports about Koru’s location, and a report describes a conditional tax treatment that could matter for eligible work. The claim that the stop will save Bezos millions is not established.
