Buick is a brand owned by General Motors (GM), and its vehicles are made in more than one country. GM lists the Enclave at its Lansing Delta Township assembly plant in Michigan; GM also reports local production in China for the Envision SUV family and LaCrosse sedan. Those examples do not amount to a complete plant-by-plant map of every Buick model or market.
Who owns Buick?
Buick is part of General Motors’ vehicle-brand family, alongside Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac. GM’s corporate filing describes vehicles in its North American and international operations as developed, manufactured, and/or marketed under Buick and other GM brands. Buick is not a separate publicly traded automaker.
GM’s international structure includes equity stakes in entities serving other countries, primarily China. That corporate arrangement is a reason not to assume every Buick sold in China is built solely by GM itself; the available sources establish GM’s brand ownership and examples of Chinese local production, but do not detail the production entity for every vehicle.
Where are Buick vehicles made?
Manufacturing location depends on the model and market. The clearest current U.S. example is the Enclave, while GM’s China reporting documents local production milestones for the Envision and LaCrosse.

GM’s plant listing says the company builds Buick vehicles across several U.S. states, but its cited page names Lansing for the Enclave; it should not be read as a complete current Buick plant directory. The available official information confirms U.S. and Chinese production examples, not the factory assignment for every Buick or the origin of each vehicle sold in a particular country.
What about Buick’s China-market electric models?
GM’s July 3, 2026 China sales release describes the Electra E7 and Electra ENCASA, and identifies ELECTRA as Buick’s premium new-energy vehicle sub-brand. That is China-market product context; the release does not establish that these models are sold or manufactured in the United States, nor does the cited material provide a factory assignment for them.

How Buick became part of General Motors
GM’s heritage account says Buick Motor Co. was brought to Flint, Michigan, in 1903. William C. Durant took over its general management in 1904, and GM says Buick’s success helped Durant create General Motors in 1908. The history explains Buick’s foundational role in GM; current ownership is established by GM’s present-day brand and corporate materials.
