The compact unibody truck still has a 4.5-foot bed and light-duty towing mission.
That makes the 2025 model more flexible and technologically current without changing what the Maverick is. The most important buying decisions are still the choice between hybrid and EcoBoost power, FWD, AWD, or advanced 4WD, the need for the 4K Tow Package, and whether the truck’s compact bed is large enough for your cargo.

Key takeaways
- The 2025 Ford Maverick is a mid-cycle redesign rather than a clean-sheet new generation.
- Hybrid AWD becomes available for 2025, with Ford rating it at 40 city, 34 highway, and 37 combined mpg.
- Every 2025 Maverick gets a 13.2-inch SYNC 4 touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto.
- Maximum towing is 2,000 pounds in the relevant standard configurations and up to 4,000 pounds only with the available 4K Tow Package on eligible models.
- The lineup expands beyond XL, XLT, and Lariat with the off-road Tremor and street-oriented Lobo series.
Is the 2025 Ford Maverick a redesign or a new generation?
The 2025 Ford Maverick is a substantial mid-cycle update, not a new generation. Ford keeps the compact unibody platform, 4.5-foot bed, and light-duty mission, while updating the powertrain choices, cabin technology, styling, towing equipment, and model lineup.
The distinction matters because the 2025 Maverick is more configurable and more modern, but it is not a larger midsize pickup disguised as a redesign. Ford lists 33.3 cubic feet of open-truck cargo volume and a 54.4-inch cargo-box floor length in the 2025 Maverick and Lobo technical specifications.

- Custom Molded Fit: Designed to fit 2022-2026 Ford Maverick trucks, this bed mat molds precisely to your truck's 4'6" bed contours for a seamless, secure fit.
- Built for Extreme Use: Constructed from durable Nyracord rubber that’s tear resistant and virtually indestructible, standing up to extreme temperatures, sun exposure, and heavy cargo without cracking or fading.
- Non-Slip Surface for Secure Hauling: The textured surface prevents cargo from shifting, providing a cushioned, skid-resistant foundation, while the knobby underside keeps your truck bed dry and the mat securely in place.
- Easy Installation with Lifetime Protection: Protect your truck bed in minutes with a simple drop-in design - just unroll, place, and go! Backed by Rough Country's limited lifetime warranty.
Car and Driver summarized the update this way in its September 19, 2025 review: “The Maverick benefits from mid-cycle upgrades that improve its configurability, character, and convenience.” That is a better expectation than calling the truck an all-new generation.
What changed on the 2025 Ford Maverick?
The biggest 2025 changes are hybrid AWD, a standard larger infotainment system, new towing technologies, revised styling, and two more distinct ways to configure the truck.
Is hybrid AWD available on the 2025 Maverick?
Yes. Hybrid AWD is the most important mechanical change for 2025 because buyers no longer have to choose between the hybrid powertrain and all-weather traction. Ford’s official announcement identifies hybrid AWD as a new 2025 Maverick configuration, and Ford’s technical specifications rate it at 37 mpg combined.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Car and Driver reported on September 19, 2025, that hybrid AWD was a $2,220 option on XL and XLT hybrid trims and standard on Lariat hybrid models. The exact price and availability should still be checked against the particular vehicle’s window sticker and equipment list, especially for remaining inventory.
Hybrid FWD remains the efficiency leader. Hybrid AWD gives up a small amount of fuel economy for traction, while the 2.0-liter EcoBoost remains the choice for buyers who want more power or need the configurations associated with the Tremor and Lobo.
Does the 2025 Maverick have a bigger screen?
Yes. A 13.2-inch touchscreen with SYNC 4 is standard on every 2025 Maverick, replacing the previous 8-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto are also standard, so compatible phones do not need to remain connected by cable for those functions.
Ford also lists an 8-inch productivity display, FordPass Connect with a 5G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, and available wireless charging. The larger screen is one of the most noticeable daily-use improvements because it modernizes the cabin without changing the Maverick’s basic compact-truck layout. The feature changes are detailed in Ford’s official 2025 Maverick announcement.
What new towing technology does the 2025 Maverick get?
The 2025 Maverick adds towing technologies intended to make trailer connection and towing easier, but the exact aids depend on the truck’s configuration and equipment. Buyers should not assume that every 2025 Maverick includes the same towing cameras, guidance features, or trailer-related equipment.

Ford stated in its July 31, 2024 announcement: “Maverick customers can leave their smartphone cords at home thanks to new wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android AutoTM cast on a larger, 13.2-inch touchscreen, and can tow like a pro regardless of skill level with new towing technologies coming in early 2025.”
The useful takeaway is to verify the equipment on the specific truck rather than treating “new towing technologies” as a universal feature package.
How is the 2025 Maverick exterior and lineup different?
The exterior receives a mild refresh with revised lighting, grille treatment, wheel designs, and additional interior color choices. The more meaningful lineup change is the addition of the Lobo street-truck series alongside the continuing Tremor off-road series.
The Tremor raises the truck’s trail capability with advanced 4WD and greater ground clearance. Ford lists 9.0 inches of minimum running ground clearance for Tremor, compared with 8.1 inches for base FHEV FWD and gas AWD configurations.
The Lobo moves in the opposite direction. Car and Driver describes the Lobo as a lowered street truck with quicker steering, upgraded brakes, a seven-speed transmission, and a track-only drive mode. Tremor is intended to improve performance away from pavement; Lobo is intended to make pavement driving and street appearance the priority.
How do the 2025 Maverick engines and fuel-economy ratings compare?
The 2025 Maverick offers a 2.5-liter hybrid with front- or all-wheel drive and a 2.0-liter EcoBoost with all-wheel drive. Hybrid FWD is the fuel-economy choice, hybrid AWD adds traction, and EcoBoost supplies the higher listed output.
According to Ford Motor Company’s 2025 model-year order guide, the hybrid FWD Maverick is rated at 42 city, 35 highway, and 38 combined mpg. Ford’s 2025 technical specifications list hybrid AWD at 40 city, 34 highway, and 37 combined mpg. Ford identifies those figures as official ratings; they are not a guarantee of an individual driver’s fuel economy.

Ford notes that the horsepower and torque figures in the cited order-guide material are preliminary, so the figures should be treated as Ford’s published specifications rather than independent measurements.

Is the 2025 Maverick fuel efficient in independent testing?
The hybrid remains the most efficient Maverick configuration, but independent test results can differ from EPA estimates. Car and Driver tested a 2025 Maverick XLT hybrid AWD at 6.7 seconds from 0 to 60 mph and reported the truck’s 37-mpg combined EPA rating in its September 19, 2025 instrumented review.
That test result suggests hybrid AWD is not merely a slow economy configuration, but it does not make the AWD hybrid as efficient as hybrid FWD. Buyers who rarely need additional traction should choose FWD for the best fuel-economy rating; buyers who regularly face snow, loose surfaces, or wet roads may find the AWD trade-off more useful.
How much can the 2025 Ford Maverick tow?
The 2025 Ford Maverick can tow up to 2,000 pounds in the relevant standard configurations, or up to 4,000 pounds with the available 4K Tow Package on eligible models. The 4,000-pound figure does not apply to every Maverick.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Ford lists the available 4K Tow Package as the requirement for the higher rating. The exact drivetrain, trim, package, and trailer equipment must be confirmed before purchase because a truck that looks identical from the outside may not have the same tow rating.
- Choose standard towing if the trailer is within the truck’s 2,000-pound rating and the vehicle does not need the additional package.
- Choose the 4K Tow Package only when the exact Maverick configuration is eligible and the higher trailer rating is genuinely needed.
- Check payload as well as towing. Trailer tongue weight, passengers, cargo, and accessories all count against payload, and the maximum payload varies from 1,045 pounds for Lobo to 1,500 pounds for hybrid FWD and gas AWD in Ford’s published figures.
Ford’s 2025 Maverick order guide and technical specifications are the appropriate references for matching a trailer to a specific build.
What can fit in the 2025 Maverick FLEXBED?
The 2025 Maverick’s FLEXBED is highly adaptable for bikes, mulch, moving boxes, tools, and weekend equipment, but the 4.5-foot bed remains short compared with the beds in larger pickups. Ford’s official 2025 specifications list the following cargo-box measurements.
| Cargo-bed measurement | Ford-listed figure | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Cargo-box floor length | 54.4 in | Useful for compact equipment and everyday hauling, but limiting for long or bulky items. |
| Width between wheelhouses | 42.6 in | Defines the narrowest portion of the usable bed floor. |
| Exposed cargo width | 53.3 in | Provides more room above the wheelhouses for suitable loads. |
| Open-truck cargo volume | 33.3 cu ft | Creates meaningful room for loose cargo despite the compact exterior. |
The FLEXBED concept adds practical organization through a multi-position tailgate, bed dividers, an available bed extender, 110-volt/400-watt outlets, and pre-wired 12-volt connections. Those features make the Maverick more useful than its short floor length alone suggests, although the bed cannot handle bulky cargo as easily as a midsize or full-size pickup.
Which 2025 Maverick accessories are worth considering?
Accessories should be selected by the cargo and weather exposure the truck will actually see, not simply because a redesigned truck has accessory listings. Ford’s official catalog lists products for 2022-2026 Maverick models, but buyers still need to verify bed configuration, mounting requirements, and model-specific fitment before ordering.

The accessory listings appear in Ford’s 2025 Maverick accessories catalog. The catalog supports fitment research, but it does not mean every listed product is required, included with the truck, or compatible with every trim and bed setup.
Which 2025 Maverick trim should you buy?
The right trim depends more on the intended use than on the trim name. XL is the basic utility choice, XLT is the likely value balance, Lariat emphasizes equipment, Tremor is for trails, and Lobo is for street-oriented performance and appearance.
| Trim or series | Best for | What distinguishes it | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| XL | Lowest entry cost and basic truck utility. | Deliberately simple cabin and access to the core Maverick concept. | Useful comfort and convenience upgrades are optional, so options can change the value calculation. |
| XLT | Buyers seeking the likely value sweet spot. | More convenience equipment without moving to the most equipment-heavy trim; key trim for comparing hybrid FWD, hybrid AWD, and gas AWD. | Adding AWD, packages, or options can narrow the price gap with higher trims. |
| Lariat | Buyers prioritizing standard comfort and technology equipment. | Hybrid AWD is standard on Lariat hybrid models according to Car and Driver’s 2025 configuration discussion. | Higher equipment level may not be worthwhile for a buyer focused primarily on simple hauling. |
| Tremor | Off-road-oriented driving. | 2.0-liter EcoBoost, advanced 4WD, off-road equipment, and 9.0 inches of minimum running ground clearance. | Lower fuel economy, 1,140-pound maximum payload, and 2,000-pound maximum towing. |
| Lobo | Street styling and sharper pavement behavior. | Lowered setup, quicker steering, upgraded brakes, seven-speed transmission, and track-only drive mode. | Lowest listed payload at 1,045 pounds and a street focus rather than trail capability. |
Should you choose XL, XLT, or Lariat?
Choose XL when the priority is a basic compact truck and the standard equipment is sufficient. Choose XLT when convenience features and configuration flexibility matter more than the lowest possible entry price. Choose Lariat when standard comfort and technology features justify paying for a more thoroughly equipped cabin.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTrim names alone do not determine value. Compare the price of the desired options and packages, particularly hybrid AWD, the 4K Tow Package, and equipment that is standard on Lariat but optional on lower trims. Car and Driver describes the base Maverick as basic and notes that useful upgrades are optional in its 2025 Maverick model overview.
What is the difference between Maverick Tremor and Lobo?
Tremor is the off-road Maverick, while Lobo is the street Maverick. Tremor uses advanced 4WD and increased ground clearance to support rougher surfaces; Lobo uses a lowered setup, quicker steering, upgraded brakes, and a track-only drive mode to emphasize pavement performance.
Performance testing reinforces the different missions. Car and Driver recorded 5.8 seconds from 0 to 60 mph for a tested 2025 Maverick Lobo, compared with 6.7 seconds for its tested 2025 Maverick hybrid AWD. Those are results from specific test vehicles, not acceleration guarantees for every trim.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How much does a 2025 Maverick cost now?
There is no single reliable current price for a 2025 Maverick without specifying location, trim, options, dealer, and date. Car and Driver’s September 19, 2025 coverage described the base Maverick as approaching $30,000, while Ford’s inventory listings show configuration- and dealer-specific net MSRPs that vary by vehicle.
The 2025 Maverick is now a prior model year relative to 2026, so remaining inventory can be especially volatile. A shopper should distinguish between an original model-year MSRP, a current dealer listing, an incentive-adjusted price, and an actual transaction price. Check the VIN-specific window sticker and the dealer’s current terms rather than relying on a generic “starting at” figure.

Ford’s 2025 Maverick inventory listings are useful for checking surviving stock, but inventory and net pricing can change by location and date.
Is the 2025 Ford Maverick worth it?
The 2025 Maverick is worth considering if you want compact dimensions, hybrid efficiency, optional AWD, a genuinely useful small bed, and light-duty towing rather than full-size capability. The update is especially valuable for buyers who previously had to choose between hybrid FWD and an all-wheel-drive truck.
| Choose the 2025 Maverick if you need… | Think about another truck if you need… |
|---|---|
| Compact unibody dimensions and an easy-to-configure 4.5-foot bed. | A longer bed or substantially more room for bulky cargo. |
| Hybrid FWD economy or hybrid AWD traction. | Heavy-duty towing or payload beyond the Maverick’s light-duty limits. |
| Up to 4,000 pounds of towing with the correct eligible package. | 4,000-pound capability without checking the exact configuration and package. |
| A flexible truck for bikes, mulch, tools, boxes, and weekend equipment. | A pickup intended primarily for large trailers, commercial loads, or full-size truck work. |
| A street-focused Lobo or trail-focused Tremor within the Maverick family. | A single configuration that combines maximum fuel economy, maximum payload, maximum towing, and serious off-road hardware. |
The strongest all-around choices are hybrid FWD for maximum efficiency, hybrid AWD for the new everyday traction option, and EcoBoost AWD for buyers prioritizing power or the available 4K towing setup. Tremor and Lobo are specialized choices rather than automatic upgrades: Tremor favors trails, while Lobo favors street driving and style.

What should buyers check before ordering?
- Confirm the drivetrain. Hybrid FWD, hybrid AWD, EcoBoost AWD, Tremor advanced 4WD, and Lobo advanced 4WD have different fuel-economy, payload, and equipment implications.
- Verify the tow rating on the actual vehicle. The 4,000-pound maximum requires the correct 4K Tow Package and an eligible configuration.
- Compare equipment costs, not just trim names. An XL or XLT with options may change the value comparison with Lariat.
- Measure the cargo you carry. The bed is 54.4 inches long on the floor, 42.6 inches wide between wheelhouses, and 53.3 inches wide at the exposed cargo area.
- Check accessory fitment. Bed mats, covers, dividers, tents, liners, and protection products can differ by bed setup and model-year application.
- Check the date and location on pricing. Remaining 2025 inventory is not the same as original MSRP or a current transaction quote.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 2025 Ford Maverick a new generation?
The 2025 Ford Maverick is a mid-cycle redesign, not a clean-sheet new generation. Ford retains the compact unibody platform, 4.5-foot bed, and light-duty mission while adding hybrid AWD, updated technology, revised styling, and new configuration choices.
Is hybrid AWD available on the 2025 Ford Maverick?
Yes. Hybrid AWD is available on 2025 Maverick hybrid models; Car and Driver reported it as a $2,220 option on XL and XLT hybrid trims and standard on Lariat hybrid models in its September 19, 2025 configuration discussion.
Can every 2025 Maverick tow 4,000 pounds?
No. The 4,000-pound maximum requires the available 4K Tow Package and an eligible Maverick configuration. The relevant standard configurations are rated for up to 2,000 pounds, so the exact truck’s equipment and rating must be verified.
What is the difference between the 2025 Maverick Tremor and Lobo?
Tremor is the off-road-oriented series with advanced 4WD and greater ground clearance, while Lobo is the street-oriented series with a lowered setup, quicker steering, upgraded brakes, a seven-speed transmission, and a track-only drive mode.

Bottom line: The 2025 Ford Maverick redesign is a meaningful mid-cycle update, not a new generation. Hybrid AWD, standard 13.2-inch SYNC 4 technology, and the Lobo and Tremor series broaden the truck’s appeal, but the Maverick remains a compact, light-duty pickup with a 4.5-foot bed. Choose hybrid FWD for efficiency, hybrid AWD for all-weather versatility, EcoBoost AWD for power and eligible 4K towing, Tremor for trails, and Lobo for pavement-focused performance.
