How the 2025 minivans compare
There is no single objective winner. Edmunds names the Sienna its best minivan, citing fuel economy, ride comfort, and family technology; Kelley Blue Book also places it first. Those are editorial assessments, not guarantees that it will suit every household. Compare the exact trim and seating configuration you would buy, especially if you regularly carry child seats, bulky cargo, or a full passenger load.

Which one uses less fuel?
For a direct hybrid comparison, Toyota’s 2025 comparison lists EPA-estimated combined fuel economy of 36 mpg for the Sienna LE Hybrid FWD and 33 mpg for the Kia Carnival MPV Hybrid LXS. These are estimates for those named trims and drivetrains, not figures to apply to every version of either van.
Edmunds reports that its tested Sienna FWD exceeded its EPA combined estimate, while AWD was less efficient in that test. That test observation does not establish the result for every owner or driving route. The Odyssey uses a gas V6, and the Pacifica is offered in gas and plug-in hybrid configurations; compare the specific configuration and official fuel-economy information that applies to your intended purchase.

A cargo liner may help protect the load area, but confirm model-year and trim compatibility before buying one.

Which seating layout works better for families?
Toyota Sienna
The Sienna’s second-row seats cannot be removed, a limitation if you need to convert the cabin for especially bulky cargo. Edmunds reports that its LATCH anchors are easier to access than the Kia’s, which may matter when installing or moving child seats.
Kia Carnival
The optional second-row seats slide in a 40/20/40 arrangement, allowing sections to move independently. Edmunds describes the Carnival’s third-row seat as more comfortable than the Sienna’s, while reporting more difficult access to the Kia’s LATCH anchors. Try your own child seats in the specific trim: anchor access, seat shape, and the route to the third row are practical questions a specification sheet cannot answer.

Chrysler Pacifica
Edmunds highlights the gas Pacifica’s easily stowable seats as a useful way to change from passenger seating to cargo space. Do not assume the same arrangement applies to the Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid: Edmunds says that version is not offered with Stow ‘n Go seats.
Honda Odyssey
The Odyssey is a gas V6 option among these four family vans. If your decision hinges on seating positions or child-seat access, inspect the exact configuration in person and test the seats and restraints you use.

When does the Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid make sense?
The Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid is a distinct choice from the gas Pacifica: its electric-only range estimate may suit a buyer looking to handle some commuting on electric power. Edmunds notes two important compromises: the plug-in version is not available with AWD or Stow ‘n Go seats. Car and Driver says the gas model can tow more than the Sienna, while it does not recommend towing with the plug-in model.
