It paired distinctive equipment—such as all-terrain tires, auxiliary lamps, guards and Baja graphics—with separately specified suspension and underbody-shield packages. Chevrolet called it a “rugged off-road appearance package,” not a purpose-built platform; the chassis options are what gave the truck its documented off-road equipment.
What came with the S-10 Baja package?
Chevrolet’s 1989 brochure offered Baja on any 4×4 S-10 model. The package included paint and graphics, a light bar with off-road lamps, a front grille guard with driving lamps, a tubular rear bumper, dashboard switches for the lamps, and black-and-chrome accents on the wheels, grille and lamp bezels. Chevrolet’s 1989 S-10 brochure described it as a “rugged off-road appearance package.”
The 1991 brochure lists Midnight Black, Apple Red and Frost White paint, along with Baja graphics, special brushed aluminum wheels, a black grille and black headlamp and taillamp bezels. It also specifies LT235/75R-15 all-terrain white-letter tires, a light bar with off-road lamps, a grille guard with driving lamps and a tubular rear bumper. These are 1991 brochure details, not proof that every Baja from every year had the same tires or that a surviving truck still has its original parts. The 1991 Chevrolet Trucks brochure provides the model-year-specific list.
What made it more than an appearance package?
The off-road capability came from required chassis and protection options, not simply from the graphics or exterior accessories. For 1989, Chevrolet required the Baja appearance option to be paired with a suspension package and underbody shield package. The brochure also lists Tahoe interior trim, power steering, a 1,500-pound payload package and a 2.8-liter V6 among the requirements. The 1991 brochure likewise identifies suspension and underbody shielding as required.

Suspension and recovery equipment
GM’s 1989 S-10 Vehicle Information Kit describes the off-road suspension package as special torsion bars, high-pressure gas shock absorbers, jounce bumpers, a front stabilizer bar, tow hooks and a full-size spare tire. This is the documented equipment behind the package’s off-road orientation; the kit does not establish a particular lift height. GM’s 1989 S-10 Vehicle Information Kit also says the older Z71 off-road chassis package had been divided into separate shield and suspension options.
Underbody protection
The separate shield package included protection for the fuel tank and transfer case, according to the 1989 GM vehicle information kit. Together, the shields and suspension components explain why a factory-described appearance package could still be an off-road-oriented 4×4 configuration.

- Appearance: The design features a blue metallic finish with sharp, angular lines that highlight its mechanical tuning style. The appearance creates a harmonious visual effect without appearing awkward or bulky, enhancing the car's refined and sporty aesthetic.
- Material: Made of alloy with a surface treatment that resists rust even in outdoor conditions exposed to rain, mud and off-road conditions. Featuring a non-slip tread pattern, it resists vibration and remains distortion-free, preventing cracking or slippage.
- Design: The ergonomic design provides an appropriate rise in handlebar height, which improves your riding posture. This adjustment helps to reduce back and shoulder fatigue during long journeys, making your ride more comfortable and enjoyable.
- Wide Adaptability: Designed to fit a wide range of vehicles, these mount clamps are universal for most off-roads, ATVs and motorcycles featuring either 1-1/8 " or 7/8 " handlebars. The serrated teeth are designed to fit both stock and aftermarket round handlebars.
- Easy Installation: Features a split open clamping structure, simply loosen the bolts to slide it directly onto the handlebar tube. Once the position is adjusted, tighten the screws to secure it in place. The installation and removal process is straightforward and intuitive.
Did the S-10 Baja have a lift?
The cited factory descriptions establish special torsion bars and suspension components, but do not give a lift-height figure. They therefore support describing Baja as a 4×4 S-10 with specified off-road suspension equipment, not claiming a particular factory lift. On an individual truck, ride height and equipment may also reflect later modifications or replacement parts rather than its original specification.
Was the Baja a purpose-built off-road truck?
It was a factory-optioned 4×4 with off-road suspension and underbody protection requirements, but Chevrolet itself characterized Baja as an appearance package. That distinction matters: Baja combined a standard S-10 4×4 foundation and required options with distinctive styling and equipment; the cited materials do not describe a separate high-clearance platform.

- Material Build: This sturdy alloy peg serves as foot pegs and motorcycle highway pegs. Highway pegs with solid structure deliver steady support during riding, and ebike mods with durable construction adapt to regular daily and off road use for long periods.
- Anti-Slip Design: The textured surface of this peg boosts friction effectively. Foot pegs and motorcycle highway pegs prevent feet from sliding on wet or rough roads, and practical ebike mods bring stable footing experience for riders in different riding conditions.
- Stable Support: As reliable foot pegs and motorcycle highway pegs, this peg holds firm weight and maintains stable posture for riders. Simple ebike mods offer balanced force points to ease body control during starting turning and braking.
- Easy Installation: This peg works well as foot pegs and motorcycle highway pegs. It belongs to user friendly ebike mods that match standard mounting positions. Users can finish assembly without complicated steps to complete part replacement quickly.
- Wide Application: This standard peg acts as foot pegs and motorcycle highway pegs. Versatile ebike mods fit most 50CC to 125CC dirt bikes and pit bikes, and match common models for general replacement and upgrading needs.
Was the Baja light bar a roll bar?
No. Chevrolet’s 1991 brochure explicitly warned: “The light bar on this truck is not a roll bar. The light bar won’t protect you in an accident.” It was for mounting off-road lamps, not occupant protection.

The factory brochures document original descriptions and option requirements, not the history or current condition of any particular truck. When evaluating one, compare its model year and configuration against the relevant brochure, and look separately at the chassis options and appearance parts.

- Sturdy Aluminum Construction: Crafted from solid aluminum alloy to withstand intense off-road riding conditions and daily wear. These dirt bike foot pegs deliver lasting strength without adding unnecessary weight to your motorcycle. The rugged build ensures stable support during jumps and rough terrain navigation.
- Enhanced Anti-Slip Surface: Designed with placed teeth across the platform to secure your boots firmly in place. This textured grip prevents your feet from sliding off the pedals during aggressive maneuvers or wet conditions. The wide footrest area distributes pressure evenly, reducing foot fatigue during extended motocross sessions.
- Optimized Wide Platform: Featuring an expanded surface area that offers superior arch support compared to factory options. The broader dirtbike pegs accommodate various boot sizes comfortably, giving you a stable foundation to stand on while tackling steep inclines.
- Versatile Model Fitment: Engineered to serve as a direct replacement for multiple popular models including PW50 PW80 and TW200. These foot pegs for motorcycles integrate seamlessly with 50cc, 70cc, and 110cc dirt bikes.
- Easy Installation: The package includes all necessary hardware components like pins and springs to complete the setup quickly. You can attach these electric bike pegs to your frame using basic hand tools without requiring professional assistance.
- Check for evidence of the suspension and underbody shield equipment, rather than relying on Baja decals or trim alone.
- Compare tires and wheels with the correct model-year description; the LT235/75R-15 specification is listed in the 1991 brochure, not established here as universal across years.
- Separate factory equipment from dealer additions, later modifications and replacement parts. The cited brochures cannot authenticate an individual truck.
The reviewed factory materials provide no production-volume figure, so they do not establish how many Baja trucks Chevrolet built or whether a particular example is rare.
