The P2 Speeder is an eight-engine Air Utility Vehicle prototype unveiled by JetPack Aviation’s Mayman Aerospace brand in 2022. It is not a conventional road motorcycle, and its often-repeated figures—more than 500 mph, 400 miles of range and 1,000 pounds of lift—were company targets for a proposed final version, not demonstrated or certified performance.
What is the P2 Speeder?
JetPack Aviation showed the P2 Speeder as a prototype in June 2022. Futurism described it as the third full-scale prototype developed by Mayman Aerospace, a brand launched by JetPack Aviation, and called the craft an Air Utility Vehicle (AUV). Its eight jet engines are what prompted the “flying motorcycle” description, but the label should not be taken to mean it is a road-going motorcycle.

The announcement was a prototype unveiling, not evidence that a finished aircraft was in service. The original report is Futurism’s June 7, 2022 article by Victor Tangermann.
Can it really fly over 500 mph?
That figure was a company-stated target for a proposed final iteration, as reported by Futurism in 2022. The same report attributed two other targets to the company: 400 miles of range and 1,000 pounds of lift. These are not reported test results, and the article does not establish that the prototype achieved them. The company said the final version would need FAA flight certification.

The 2022 report said the final version would require FAA flight certification. It also said the company hoped to start remote-controlled test flights later that year, with pilots taking control toward the end of 2022. Those were plans stated at the time, not confirmation that the flights occurred. The cited report does not establish the aircraft’s subsequent testing or certification status.
What jobs was it designed to do?
The company was considering firefighting and medical evacuation as possible applications. These were proposed roles, not reported operational deployments. The article also quoted investor Tim Draper calling the Speeder “a total game changer” and “one of the most exciting, industry disrupting technologies we’ve seen.” Those remarks express investor enthusiasm; they do not validate the aircraft’s performance.
What happens if one of its engines fails?
JetPack Aviation claimed that, if one of the eight engines failed, the others could adjust their thrust to prevent the pilot from spinning out of control. The 2022 article offered no independent test data establishing that behavior as proven safety performance. Its quoted phrase “maximum flight efficiency and ultra-safe system redundancy” was promotional wording from the company’s press release, not an independent safety finding.

The cited 2022 report identifies a prototype and proposed performance targets; it does not establish that the aircraft is available to buy. It also does not confirm later commercial availability.
