The Foil. One Pegasus is a single-seat electric hydrofoil boat: a low, carbon-fibre craft built for one rider, with two foils aligned beneath the hull. Finnish maker Foilone gives it a streamlined look inspired by vintage Formula 1 cars, but its real distinction is the way it combines steering, throttle and automatic ride-height control. It is a niche recreational machine, not an electric surfboard or a passenger boat.

How the Pegasus hydrofoil works

Foilone says the Pegasus has one foil at the front and another aft, arranged in line beneath the hull. At around 10 knots, the hull rises onto the foils, reducing the amount of boat in the water. The rider steers with the front foil using split hand controls designed to behave somewhat like bicycle handlebars, and controls power with a pressure-sensitive throttle under the right foot.

Ride height is managed mechanically, according to the manufacturer. A surface-sensing wand moves a flap on the front foil as the craft encounters changes at the water’s surface. Foilone also describes an adjustable flap-gearing system that changes how readily the height control responds. The system is intended to reduce the amount of active “flying” the rider must do; that is the maker’s description, not an independently tested assessment of how easy the boat is to operate.

Foilone’s published specifications

Foilone’s current product page lists these figures. They are manufacturer specifications, not results from an independent test.

Stated range More than two hours; the page’s FAQ says cruising use can reach 2.5 hours
Weight with batteries 200 kg
Weight without batteries 128 kg
Overall length 4.88 m
Width 0.95 m
Approximate rider capacity 100 kg

The current motor figure differs from launch-era coverage. New Atlas reported 18.8 kW in October 2024, attributing its information to Foil. One; Foilone’s current product page lists 14.9 kW. Those figures should not be combined or treated as equivalent. The current maker listing is the more relevant reference for present specifications. New Atlas’s October 2024 launch report also reported the 18–22-knot cruise range, up-to-30-knot top speed, battery capacity and weights.

What ownership involves

At a listed 200 kg with batteries, the Pegasus calls for more planning than a lightweight board that one person can simply carry to the water. Foilone describes removable or retractable foils and launch or retrieval by trailer, cradle or crane. A dedicated road trailer and shore cradle are options, rather than details to assume are included in every configuration.

  • Check transport and storage: Ask the maker about dimensions for the specific transport setup, storage requirements and how the foils and motor components are handled.
  • Match capacity to the rider: Foilone gives an approximate 100 kg rider capacity; confirm the limit for the exact build and how any carried gear affects it.
  • Ask about water conditions and local rules: Foilone advises flying lower in larger waves to reduce ventilation and splashdown, but the material reviewed does not establish an independently validated safe sea-state limit or jurisdiction-specific licensing and operating rules.
  • Follow the maker’s care guidance: Foilone says the craft can be used in fresh or salt water, recommends lifting it out between uses, and advises rinsing after saltwater operation.
  • Clarify service and safety equipment: The product page lists items including automatic shut-off, navigation, a paddle and a bailer. These are manufacturer descriptions, not evidence of independent safety testing or certification; ask about service support and applicable requirements where you will ride.

Price depends on the configuration

As displayed on Foilone’s pages accessed October 8, 2026, the product-page configurator shows a €73,576 total, including €9,276 for batteries and charger. The manufacturer’s shop separately lists a Pegasus at €64,300 and a €1,000 build slot. The pages do not establish that the shop listing includes the same components or options as the configured total, so the prices are not directly interchangeable.

Foilone’s configurator separately lists two Torqeedo 48-5000 batteries at €7,513, a slow charger at €742 and a fast charger at €1,763, also as displayed on October 8, 2026. Prices and availability can change. Before ordering, request a current quote that specifies the batteries, charger, foils, options, taxes and delivery terms. The €139,900 pre-order price reported by New Atlas in 2024 is historical, not a current quote.

Who the Pegasus may suit

The Pegasus is aimed at a rider seeking a one-person, high-performance electric craft and willing to manage its weight, charging, launch setup and specialist components. Its published speed and range figures can help frame questions for the manufacturer, but they are not independently verified performance results. A sensible evaluation should include the intended rider’s weight, local water and operating rules, how the boat will be transported and launched, and the full delivered price of the chosen configuration.
