What happens in the Range Rover Sport Iceland commercial?
Jaguar Land Rover’s 10 May 2022 announcement introduced the third-generation Range Rover Sport with a filmed capability challenge in Iceland. The film follows the vehicle and Hawkins across volcanic terrain, over rock cliffs and through flooded tunnels before the dam-spillway attempt. Read JLR’s announcement.
The campaign’s defining sequence is the drive up the Karahnjukar Dam spillway. JLR reported a 193-metre climb, water running down the ramp at 750 tonnes per minute and a 90-metre drop at its base. These describe the stunt as presented by the manufacturer; the campaign pages do not provide independent verification of the measurements.
Who is the driver?
The driver is Jessica Hawkins. JLR’s announcement identified her as an official James Bond stunt driver, and Range Rover’s campaign page names her as the driver in the challenge. Range Rover’s challenges page describes the Iceland terrain and dam climb.

What did Hawkins say about the vehicle?
On Range Rover’s official capabilities page, Hawkins credited both the vehicle and her confidence in driving it, and singled out All-Wheel Steering: “We wouldn’t have achieved what we needed to achieve without the right vehicle — and without me feeling confident driving that vehicle. Many features in the car enabled me to carry out this stunt, but I really liked the All-Wheel Steering.” This is Hawkins’s campaign comment, not an independent engineering assessment. Is this the 2026 Range Rover Sport?
No. The film launched the third-generation Range Rover Sport in 2022; it should not be described as a commercial for a 2026 model. Today’s available trims and powertrains vary by market and model year. Range Rover’s Iceland site currently shows local-market trim and powertrain categories, including petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid and SV variants, but that lineup does not establish which version appeared in the 2022 film. Can the stunt be used as a driving guide?
No. The film is a staged manufacturer campaign, not a demonstration for ordinary drivers to reproduce. The campaign sources describe what the film depicts but do not establish that a production vehicle can safely repeat the maneuver outside the filmed conditions. They also do not provide a full production itinerary or filming dates.
