A protest against Elon Musk and Tesla took place on Black Rock Sands in north Wales on March 14, 2025. Its organizers, Led By Donkeys, called it the world’s biggest anti-Musk protest and said its message could be seen from space. Those are the group’s claims—not a verified global record: available coverage gives the sand message’s reported dimensions, but no comparable ranking or confirmed space-visibility test.
What happened on the Welsh beach?
Led By Donkeys staged the action at Black Rock Sands (Traeth y Greigddu), near Porthmadog in Gwynedd, north Wales. According to Nation.Cymru, Tesla owner Prama drove a Tesla Model 3 with a large harrow attached, using it to rake “DON’T BUY A TESLA” and a silhouette of Musk into the sand. The report gives the message’s dimensions as 250m by 150m; it does not describe an independently audited survey.
The event took place on March 14, 2025, according to Cambrian News. Led By Donkeys posted about it on March 17, and Welsh coverage followed on March 18. Those later dates refer to publication, not when the beach action happened.
Is it established as the world’s biggest protest?
No. Cambrian News reported the “world’s biggest” description as the group’s characterization. Other coverage repeated the organizers’ framing, including the claim that the message was visible from space. The available reports establish neither a global comparison with other anti-Musk protests nor an attendance figure that would support a ranking. They also do not verify that the writing was visible from space.

The reported 250m-by-150m size is a measure of the sand message, not the number of people at the protest and not proof that it was the largest protest of its kind. The most accurate description is that Led By Donkeys staged a large beach message and promoted it as the world’s biggest anti-Musk protest.
Why did the featured Tesla owner take part?
Prama said she was selling her Tesla after owning it for six years because Musk’s political activity had changed how she felt about the car. In an excerpt reproduced by Nation.Cymru, she said: “He’s gone into becoming someone who is obsessed by power, and that’s really changed my view on him.”

Her explanation is personal, not a measure of wider Tesla sales or consumer sentiment. Led By Donkeys’ post, quoted by PinkNews, said, “Thousands of people are ditching Tesla.” The reports reviewed here do not provide sales data substantiating that number.

The sand design included a Musk silhouette with an extended arm, which organizers and some coverage described as a Nazi salute. That is a description of the protest image, not proof of the intent behind the gesture or an adjudicated finding. Coverage also reports that Musk denied that interpretation of his gesture at Donald Trump’s inauguration.

The Welsh action itself was a beach message made with a car and harrow. The Independent’s video report describes the same location and method. The reporting characterizes the event as a peaceful protest; it does not describe vehicle damage or violence.
