No: BYD had already announced the standard Yangwang U9 on February 25, 2024, nearly a year before CES 2025. An Interesting Engineering video published on January 7, 2025, was titled “BYD Unveils Yangwang U9 at CES 2025,” but its accessible page does not describe what was shown at the event. The title alone does not establish a CES world debut or confirm the car’s precise role there.
What happened at CES 2025?
CES ran January 7–10, 2025, in Las Vegas. The Consumer Technology Association described CES Unveiled Las Vegas as the event’s official press event. On opening day, Interesting Engineering published a video titled “BYD Unveils Yangwang U9 at CES 2025.” The accessible video page has no description, so it does not establish whether the U9 was displayed, featured in a media presentation, or covered in some other way.
The clearest supported framing is that a video connecting the U9 with CES 2025 was published during the show—not that CES was the car’s first unveiling.

BYD called the result a production-car record and said it planned to offer the Xtreme in a series of no more than 30 vehicles. These are the company’s claims and stated production plan.
