Voltix inaugurated its first public charging station in France dedicated to electric heavy-duty vehicles on 2 October 2026, at Vierzon in the Cher department. At opening, the site had four charging points rated for up to 1.5 MW apiece, each with CCS and MCS connectors; the operator plans to expand it to eight points. VINCI Concessions describes it as France’s most powerful truck-charging station, a claim that has not been independently verified in the available published comparisons.
Where is the Voltix truck charging station?
The station is at Parc technologique de Sologne, allée Germaine Tillion, 18100 Vierzon, near the truck parking area called “La Grotte.” The site is close to the A20, A71 and A85, placing it near routes connecting Paris and Toulouse, Clermont-Ferrand, Tours and the Atlantic coast, according to VINCI Concessions.

Vierzon’s location is intended to serve long-distance freight traffic. The address and location description are also given in the French Ministry of Ecological Transition notice.

At inauguration, the site had four charging points, each rated for a maximum of 1.5 MW. That is the rated maximum per point, not a statement that a truck will receive 1.5 MW throughout a charging session. Actual power depends on the vehicle and charging conditions; no vehicle-specific charging curve or independent session data was provided in the announcements.

Each point has both CCS and MCS connectors. CCS is the established charging standard used by many electric vehicles; MCS (Megawatt Charging System) is designed for high-power charging of heavy-duty vehicles. Voltix says it plans to increase the station to eight points, but the four-point configuration is the capacity described at opening. The specifications and expansion plan are in the VINCI announcement and the Vierzon local authority notice.
How long does it take to charge a truck there?
VINCI estimates that a truck can recover driving range in about 30–45 minutes. This is the operator’s estimate, not a published independent test or a guarantee for every vehicle. The announcement does not specify the truck model, starting battery level, energy delivered, charging curve or distance recovered, so the time should not be read as a full-charge estimate.

Why is it described as France’s most powerful?
VINCI Concessions and the government describe Vierzon as France’s most powerful station dedicated to electric heavy-duty vehicle charging. That designation refers to the station’s category and its stated maximum power per point at inauguration. The available announcements do not provide independent comparative measurements establishing a nationwide ranking, so the superlative is best understood as an attributed, dated operator and government claim rather than an independently audited comparison.

VINCI Concessions, Épopée Gestion and ADEME Investissement announced a €90 million co-investment in September 2026 for a fast-charging network for electric trucks. That is the announced investment for the wider network, not an amount allocated solely to the Vierzon site. VINCI says Vierzon is part of the DRIVE-FR project, co-financed through the European Union’s Connecting Europe Facility Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility (CEF-AFIF).

VINCI’s stated target is 50 stations by 2028. Its announcement describes the rollout as covering France and Germany, while Vierzon’s local authority describes 50 stations in Europe. The figure is a future target, not the number already operating.
How many truck charging points might France need by 2035?
Two published figures address different questions and should not be treated as a single agreed target:

The 12,200 figure is a modelled estimate of en-route needs, while nearly 8,000 is a government objective. Their scopes and assumptions may differ, and the published materials do not explain the gap. The 2024 study separately estimates €630 million in grid investment by 2035, excluding charging stations and site development, and assumes optimized sharing of charging needs between heavy and light vehicles.

What is not yet clear for drivers?
The station announcements do not state tariffs, payment methods, opening hours, reservation requirements, access rules or current operational availability. Drivers and fleet operators should verify those details directly with Voltix before routing a vehicle to the site.
