Which vehicle received the 144 million VND discount?
Two 2026 reports associate a 144 million VND cash reduction with the 2025 Subaru Outback, not the Crosstrek. VNAuto reported a reduction from 1.769 billion to 1.625 billion VND. VNAuto’s September 2026 report and VietNamNet’s July 2026 report republished by Vietnam.vn describe the Outback offer; a further Vietnam.vn report from September 2026 also places the 144 million VND reduction on the Outback.

The July report describes the Subaru Crosstrek as a B-SUV imported from Japan, but gives a different set of prices and discounts. It does not say the Crosstrek is cheaper than the Toyota Vios.
What did the reports say about Crosstrek and Vios prices?

The reported Crosstrek prices remain substantially above the reported Vios range. Those figures therefore do not substantiate the claim that the Crosstrek became cheaper than the Vios. The reports also do not identify another B-segment SUV that matches both the 144 million VND discount and the claimed price comparison.
Could the 144 million VND figure refer to another SUV?
A December 2024 report said the Skoda Karoq received a 144 million VND reduction, bringing its promotional starting price to 855 million VND. That was a separate, historical offer; it does not verify the title’s specific claim about a B-segment SUV becoming cheaper than the Vios. VNAuto’s December 2024 report describes that promotion.

Why a headline discount is not the same as a cheaper purchase price
A discount amount alone cannot establish which car costs less. To verify a comparison, a buyer needs the exact vehicle and trim, its manufacturing year or VIN, the original and final transaction prices, the type of incentive, and the offer’s dates and eligibility. A cash reduction is not equivalent to registration-fee support or bundled benefits, and advertised eligibility may depend on a particular dealer or vehicle.

- Get the final transaction figure: compare the SUV’s eligible purchase price with the price of a specific Vios trim offered during the same period.
- Check the offer dates: incentives change by campaign month and vehicle version, so a media report is not a current quotation.
What can be concluded from the available reports?
The 144 million VND figure in the cited 2026 coverage refers to the Subaru Outback. The Crosstrek is described as a B-SUV, but its reported discounts and prices are different; the July 2026 figures put it well above the reported Toyota Vios price range. The exact vehicle, if any, behind the headline’s combined claim remains unidentified, so the claim is unconfirmed.
