Verge Motorcycles and Donut Lab announced in January 2026 that the Verge TS Pro would use Donut Lab’s claimed all-solid-state battery, with Verge saying the model was already in production. But the announcement is not independent confirmation that the battery-equipped motorcycles entered series production or reached customers. As of October 8, 2026, the latest reporting cited here had not verified a production EV using the battery on the road.
What Verge and Donut Lab announced
On January 5, 2026, Verge Motorcycles said its TS Pro was adopting battery technology developed and tested with Donut Lab. Verge described the new TS Pro evolution as already in production and available to order. Donut Lab separately called its battery all-solid-state and ready for OEM manufacturing. These are company statements, not independent confirmation of the production status or chemistry of the customer-intended battery.
Verge CEO Tuomo Lehtimäki said the company’s development work and battery-pack testing and validation had reached the point where it could implement the technology in the TS Pro, which he said was already in production. The statement was part of Verge’s January 5 announcement. Verge’s announcement also presented the motorcycle’s specifications and availability.
Has the solid-state TS Pro reached customers?
The available evidence does not establish that customer deliveries of the solid-state-equipped TS Pro had begun by October 8, 2026. Electrek reported on September 2 that the announced Q1 customer-production timeline had not been met, described the Q1 motorcycles as pre-production units, and said no production EV using the battery was on the road. Its September 23 report likewise discussed the gap between the announced timeline and verified production use. That reporting does not establish delivery status after September, so the most accurate description is that production deployment was announced, while customer use remains unverified in the cited evidence.

This distinction matters: the TS Pro model can be in production without independent evidence that the particular battery version announced in January has reached series production or customers.
What is known about the battery claims?
Donut Lab claimed an energy density of 400 Wh/kg, a full charge in five minutes, and a design life of up to 100,000 cycles. Those are company claims; the cited reporting does not independently establish them as specifications of production cells or packs. Donut Lab CEO Marko Lehtimäki said in the January 5 announcement that its answer to whether solid-state batteries were ready for OEM production vehicles was “now, today, not later.” That is the company’s position, not proof of deployment.

Verge also made vehicle-level claims: up to 370 miles of range and 186 miles of added range in ten minutes. These figures are manufacturer claims, not independently verified road-test results. Verge said the Donut 2.0 motor was 50% lighter than its predecessor and produced 1,000 Nm of torque; those, too, are Verge’s stated specifications. Verge’s product announcement is the source for these figures.
What the independent testing does—and does not—show
A single-cell energy-density measurement
Electrek reported on September 2 that VTT measured one cell at 409.3 Wh/kg. That is a measurement on a single cell, not a verified production battery-pack specification. The result alone does not establish the cell’s chemistry, readiness for mass production, motorcycle range, or cycle life. Electrek also noted that the tested cell was not necessarily the one intended for customers.

Material analysis and cell chemistry
In a September 23 report, Electrek described an Intertek analysis that measured lithium and sodium in supplied material. According to Electrek, the analysis did not determine the cell chemistry or establish that its sample was the same cell tested by VTT. It therefore does not definitively prove or disprove Donut Lab’s solid-state claim.
Cycle-life evidence
Electrek’s March 23 review of five VTT reports said the tests provided some performance measurements but did not establish Donut Lab’s 400 Wh/kg or 100,000-cycle claims. The outlet characterized one high-rate cycling sample as already damaged, limiting what could be inferred from that sample about healthy production cells. The reviewed evidence does not independently confirm the claimed 100,000-cycle life.

How to read “production begins” in this case
The headline’s wording can suggest that a verified production vehicle is already being built and delivered. The record supports a narrower account: Verge announced a planned battery deployment in the TS Pro and said the model was in production, while later reporting questioned whether the battery-equipped vehicle had progressed beyond pre-production and found no production EV using the battery on the road as of September 2026.
Accordingly, the announcement should be treated as a company-reported production milestone, not as independently verified proof of series production, customer deliveries, or the battery’s advertised chemistry and performance. The cited sources do not resolve whether deliveries began after September 2026.
