The SHERP Q, Gibbs Terraquad, Gibbs Quadski and AVTOROS SHAMAN illustrate how different those designs can be. They are verified examples—not a reconstruction of the 15 vehicles implied by the original title, whose source list could not be identified.
What makes an all-terrain vehicle unusual?
“All-terrain” is not a single performance standard. A machine designed to float and crawl through difficult ground serves a different purpose from a fast amphibious recreational vehicle or an eight-wheel-drive expedition platform. Comparing them by one vague measure of capability would obscure the practical differences.
The four examples below are notable for documented design features and manufacturer-published specifications. Those figures are claims from the manufacturers, not independent comparative test results. Current availability and configurations can vary by market.
Four unusual all-terrain vehicles
| Vehicle | Distinctive design | Published figures | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|---|
| SHERP Q | Amphibious all-terrain vehicle | SHERP USA lists 61 hp, maximum speeds of 25 mph on land and 4 mph on water, stated capacity of 2,205 lb, and seating for up to seven. | Its listed water speed is far below its land speed; the figures are manufacturer specifications. |
| Gibbs Terraquad | Two-seat UTV derived from the Quadski platform, designed for land and water use | Gibbs lists 50 mph on land, 45 mph on water, and a land-to-water transition in under five seconds. | Confirm whether it is currently offered in your market before treating a product page as evidence of availability. |
| Gibbs Quadski | Amphibious personal vehicle combining quad and watercraft characteristics | Gibbs lists a 1,300 cc engine, up to 45 mph on land, 8.9-inch ground clearance, and 1,333 lb curb weight. | The Gibbs site warns that some pictured products are prototypes not available for sale; demonstrations involved professionals under controlled conditions. |
| AVTOROS SHAMAN | Eight-wheel-drive all-terrain vehicle | The AVTOROS configurator displayed a starting price of $320,620 when accessed on October 7, 2026. | The configurator says the displayed price is not a public offer. It is volatile and does not establish local availability. |
How the amphibious designs differ
SHERP Q: emphasis on low-speed access and capacity
SHERP USA describes the Q as amphibious and lists seating for up to seven alongside its stated capacity. Its published maximum water speed is 4 mph, compared with 25 mph on land, so the specifications point to a vehicle for reaching or moving through challenging locations rather than fast water travel. See the SHERP Q specifications and the SHERP global site.

SHERP says its search-and-rescue configurations can be arranged as cargo carriers, people movers or rescue units. The company lists a warranty of two years or 1,000 operating hours, whichever comes first; warranty terms should be confirmed for the specific configuration and market. Details appear on the manufacturer’s Search & Rescue UTV page.
Terraquad: speed and a rapid transition
Gibbs lists the Terraquad at 50 mph on land and 45 mph on water, with a transition between modes in under five seconds. Those figures distinguish it from the SHERP Q’s much lower listed water speed, but they do not establish that the vehicles are comparable in terrain access, payload, or work suitability. The Terraquad product page is the source for the manufacturer’s figures.

Quadski: a separate amphibious format
Gibbs lists the Quadski’s engine size, land speed, ground clearance and curb weight, but the cited page does not give a water-speed figure. Do not infer one from the Terraquad’s specifications simply because the latter is based on the same platform. Gibbs also cautions on its main site that some pictured products are prototypes not available for sale and that demonstrations used professionals under controlled conditions.

How to compare these vehicles for a real use
Start with the job, not the spectacle. A recreational machine that transitions quickly to water is not automatically the right choice for carrying a rescue team or cargo. Check the specifications and purchase terms for the exact configuration and destination market.
Quick Recap
- Water use: Confirm whether the vehicle is amphibious, its published water speed, and how it transitions between land and water.
- Land use: Compare drive or wheel configuration, ground clearance, and stated land speed—but treat maximum speed as only one capability measure.
- People and cargo: Check seating and payload or capacity figures separately. A stated capacity is not necessarily interchangeable with a payload rating.
- Purpose: Establish whether the configuration is intended for recreation, utility, rescue or another application.
- Purchase status: Ask the manufacturer or an authorized local representative whether the exact model and configuration can be bought in your region. A product page or online configurator is not proof of local stock or a purchase route.
- Evidence: Treat published speeds, capacities, prices and warranty terms as manufacturer statements unless an independent test or contract verifies them.
