Chery’s published specifications list the QQ-associated SQR372, SQR472 and SQR472FC engines as naturally aspirated—not factory-turbocharged. Chery lists turbo engines elsewhere in its catalog, but the available sources do not establish that one fits the QQ or document a verified QQ turbo conversion. The answer for any particular car depends on its year, market and engine code.
Is the Chery QQ turbocharged from the factory?
The Chery engine listings identify three naturally aspirated engines used in QQ models. Their figures below are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. The cited pages do not specify the QQ model years or markets for each listing, so they should not be read as a complete specification for every QQ sold worldwide.

A separate Chery QQ service-manual result describes a DA465Q-1A2/D engine: 1,051 ml, 38.5 kW at 5,200 rpm and 83 Nm at 3,000–3,500 rpm. That is another engine specification, not proof that every QQ uses it. See the Chery QQ service manual, “465 Engine Mechanical System”.
Can you turbo a Chery QQ?
The available sources do not establish whether a turbo conversion is feasible for a particular QQ, identify a compatible kit, or document a completed conversion with verified results. They provide no substantiated boost setting, power gain, cost, reliability record, safety assessment or emissions-compliance information. Without evidence for the specific car and parts, a claimed conversion figure or universal turbo fitment recommendation would be guesswork.

Chery’s broader catalog does include turbocharged engines: its SQRE4T16 1.6 L TCI listing and its 481/484 series listing refer to turbocharging. Neither source says those engines are fitted to the QQ or compatible with it. Their presence in Chery’s catalog does not establish a QQ swap or bolt-on option.
How to identify the engine in a particular QQ
QQ specifications vary by version, so identify the engine before drawing conclusions about a particular car. Check the vehicle’s documents and engine identification, then match the engine code and displacement to a source for the same market and model year. A model name alone—or a specification for another QQ engine—is not enough to confirm what is installed.

- Confirm the engine code and displacement from the vehicle or its documentation.
- Use those details when checking factory specifications or asking a qualified workshop about a proposed conversion.
