Toyota has unveiled an all-electric, three-row Highlander for North America. Its February 2026 announcement outlined seating for up to seven, XLE and Limited grades, front- or all-wheel drive, and a range estimate of up to 320 miles for certain AWD versions. But the model-year label has since changed on Toyota’s website, and final pricing, EPA-certified range and dealer arrival timing are not established.
What is Toyota’s three-row EV?
It is a battery-electric version of the Highlander, Toyota’s midsize SUV. Toyota Motor North America premiered it in Ojai, California, on February 10, 2026; Toyota Motor Corporation’s global announcement followed on February 11 in Japan. Toyota describes it as its first three-row battery-electric vehicle for the U.S. market. The February U.S. announcement calls it the 2027 Toyota Highlander, while Toyota USA’s live electrified-vehicles page, inspected October 7, 2026, lists an upcoming 2028 Highlander. When is it expected, and where will it be built?
Toyota’s global announcement said North American sales were expected to begin in late 2026. That is the company’s stated expectation, not confirmation of a dealer delivery date or current availability. Toyota says the vehicle will be produced at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky. Its U.S. announcement adds that battery modules will be assembled at Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina and by a U.S. partner supplier. (Toyota global announcement; Toyota U.S. announcement)
How many seats and which versions will Toyota offer?
Toyota’s February U.S. announcement says the cabin has three rows and seats up to seven. It names XLE and Limited grades and says buyers will be able to choose front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). The announcement does not provide third-row dimensions, child-seat fitment details, or cargo capacity with all rows in use, so seat count alone cannot establish how comfortably adults or bulky child seats will fit.

What range has Toyota announced?
Toyota has published estimates and development targets, not a final EPA-certified range. Its U.S. product announcement estimates up to 320 miles for AWD XLE and Limited models with a 95.8-kWh battery. The global announcement gives development-target figures for two battery capacities:

What are the announced charging and technology details?
Toyota says the Highlander BEV will have a North American Charging System (NACS) port, intended to provide access to thousands of U.S. DC fast-charging stations. Toyota’s global announcement also says battery preconditioning is included and gives an approximately 30-minute rapid-charge development target: about 10% to 80% using a 150-kW (350A) rapid charger at an outside temperature of -10°C. That is a target under specific cold-weather and charger conditions, not a guaranteed charging time for every station or temperature.
The U.S. announcement lists up to 338 combined system horsepower, a 14-inch multimedia touchscreen and a 12.3-inch driver display. A fixed glass panoramic roof is available. Toyota’s current consumer page describes separate CCS1 and J1772 adapters for its 2026 BEVs, but it does not establish that those adapter details will apply to this Highlander. Toyota has not yet published this model’s full home AC charging specifications in the cited material, so home-charger compatibility and charging rate remain to be confirmed. Toyota lists these dimensions for the North American model:

- Width: 78.3 inches
- Height: 67.3 inches
- Wheelbase: 120.1 inches

What has Toyota not confirmed?
The cited Toyota announcements and live consumer page do not establish the final U.S. price, EPA-certified range, dealer arrival date, full home-charging specifications, third-row measurements, child-seat fitment, or independent performance results. Toyota’s 320-mile figure should therefore be read as an estimate or development target, depending on the announcement—not as a certified result or a promise of real-world range.
Toyota says more than 3.6 million Highlanders were sold in the U.S. from 2001 through 2025. That is historical cumulative sales, not a forecast for the electric model.
