What the Toyota and Lexus display recall covers
The headline refers to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) campaign 25V595, announced in September 2025. NHTSA reported 591,377 potentially affected vehicles in the United States. The recall, formally described as “Instrument Panel Failure,” concerns a software problem in a particular 12.3-inch combination meter—not every vehicle of the listed models or years. NHTSA’s recall acknowledgment and Part 573 defect report describe the campaign.

These are model-year ranges in the campaign acknowledgment, not confirmation that every vehicle in each range is affected. NHTSA’s report narrows eligibility to vehicles with the specified 12.3-inch combination meter and software; other vehicles in the production range may have a different meter, memory device, or software. A model-year match alone is not enough to determine whether a vehicle needs repair.
What can go wrong with the display
According to NHTSA’s Part 573 report, improper programming repeatedly writes unnecessary data to a memory device in the combination meter. The repeated writes can cause the device to deteriorate sooner than intended. If it fails, the 12.3-inch monitor may not come on when the vehicle is started and can remain blank.

A blank panel can prevent the driver from seeing important information, including vehicle speed and brake-system or tire-pressure warnings. NHTSA says an instrument-panel display that does not show critical information can increase the risk of a crash or injury, because the driver may miss an indicator for a vehicle malfunction. The report identifies DENSO Corporation as the meter supplier, but supplier or component details do not establish whether an individual vehicle is covered.
What the free recall repair involves
The remedy depends on whether the affected vehicle is a plug-in hybrid. Toyota and Lexus dealers perform the campaign repair at no charge.

The VIN-specific recall result and dealer instructions determine which route applies to a particular vehicle. An OTA option is not listed for every affected vehicle.
How to check whether your vehicle is included
- Open Toyota’s U.S. recall lookup.
- Enter the vehicle’s 17-digit VIN, or use the lookup’s license-plate option with the issuing state.
- Follow the result for that vehicle. If campaign 25V595 is open, contact a Toyota or Lexus dealer to arrange the free repair.
Use the vehicle-specific lookup rather than relying on the model list: eligibility depends on the meter and software fitted to that vehicle. Do not use a component part number or supplier name as a substitute for the recall check.

U.S. campaign 25V595 is not the same as other display recalls
The 591,377 figure is NHTSA’s reported U.S. population for campaign 25V595; it is not a worldwide total for Toyota and Lexus display recalls. Toyota Canada separately announced that approximately 70,480 vehicles were involved in Canada in the September 2025 campaign. Canadian owners can check through the Toyota Canada announcement and the Toyota.ca or Lexus.ca VIN lookups.
Transport Canada also published a distinct display-related recall alert on May 27, 2026. It covers certain 2024 Toyota Mirai, Lexus GX 550, and Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles, as well as certain 2025 Lexus UX 300h and Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles. That separate alert describes a combination-meter software issue and an OTA or dealer-update remedy; it should not be added to NHTSA campaign 25V595’s U.S. count.
