The 2025 Canadian International AutoShow brought a broad mix of electric cars, SUVs and pickups to Toronto, with 22 battery-electric vehicles on its indoor test-drive roster and additional EVs available outdoors. The event ran February 14–23 at the North and South Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Here are notable vehicles and the organizer’s test-drive options—an editorial selection, not an official ranking.
Which EVs could visitors test-drive?
The AutoShow’s post-event report said visitors took 5,706 indoor EV-track test drives. Its indoor roster named these 22 battery-electric vehicles:
- Cars and compact crossovers: Audi Q6 e-tron, Dodge Charger Daytona, Hyundai IONIQ 5, Hyundai KONA EV, Lexus RZ 450e, Mercedes-Benz EQE, Nissan Ariya, Subaru Solterra, Toyota bZ4X, VinFast VF8 and Volvo EX30.
- Family SUVs and larger vehicles: Cadillac Optiq EV, Cadillac Escalade IQ, Chevrolet Equinox EV, Chevrolet Blazer EV, Hummer EV, GMC Sierra EV, Kia EV9, Kia EV6 and Ford Mustang Mach-E.
- Pickup: Ford F-150 Lightning.
The organizer’s release also listed outdoor drives of the Kia EV9, Rivian R1S and R1T, Volvo EX90 BEV, Lucid Air Pure, Touring and GT, Jeep Wagoneer S, Dodge Charger Daytona, Polestar 2, 3, 4 and 5, Tesla Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck, and BMW i4 M50, i5 M60 and iX M60. Its outdoor roster also included the BMW X3 M50, MINI Countryman SE ALL4, John Cooper Works 3 Door and Volvo XC90 PHEV; that list therefore was not entirely battery-electric.
The organizer’s release recorded 9,352 outdoor test drives, but that figure covers the outdoor program, not just EVs. Overall, the AutoShow said it welcomed 323,521 visitors and offered test drives of 50 vehicles from 24 brands. It described the total as more than 15,000 test drives. Notable EVs and what made them stand out
BMW i4: an award-winning electric car
BMW Group Canada announced at the show on February 13 that the BMW i4 had won the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada’s 2025 Canadian Electric Car of the Year award. That is a named national award, not a designation as the AutoShow’s best EV.
For its Canadian 2025 model-year i4, BMW reported four variants, with rear-wheel drive or xDrive all-wheel drive, and maxima of up to 512 km of range and up to 536 horsepower. Those are manufacturer-reported maximum figures, dependent on variant and configuration; they should not be read as values for every i4. BMW Group Canada’s award announcement

Kia EV5: an announced show appearance
Kia Canada announced on January 30 that the EV5 would appear at the show, describing it as exclusive to the Canadian market in North America. This supports calling it an announced show appearance, not a global debut. The EV5 was not named in the organizer’s indoor or outdoor drive rosters listed above, so its appearance should not be confused with a confirmed test-drive opportunity. Kia Canada announcement
Range of body styles and uses
The roster ranged from compact crossovers such as the Volvo EX30 and Chevrolet Equinox EV to larger family vehicles including the Kia EV9 and Cadillac Escalade IQ. Pickup shoppers could look at the Ford F-150 Lightning indoors and Rivian R1T outdoors. Performance and luxury options included the Dodge Charger Daytona, Lucid Air and BMW models. These groupings describe the roster, not a comparative verdict on price, range, practicality or driving performance.

How to use the lineup for a real comparison
A show floor makes it easier to inspect and sit in multiple vehicles, but a useful purchase comparison needs consistent, current Canadian-market versions. Compare the same model year and relevant trims across:
- Canadian price and availability in your province.
- Official driving range and the trim, drivetrain and conditions attached to that figure.
- Charging connector, charging capability and expected charging access.
- Passenger and cargo space for your actual use.
- Drivetrain, towing needs and winter-use requirements where relevant.
The event roster does not provide a like-for-like specification set for these models. BMW’s reported i4 figures are one manufacturer’s model-year-specific data point, not a complete comparison with the other vehicles.

EV help at the show
Plug’n Drive partnered with the AutoShow for the third consecutive year to provide EV education and test-drive experiences. The organization said attendees could speak with EV ambassadors in a sales-free, no-pressure setting.
