Fast X puts a wide range of cars on screen, from American muscle and Japanese tuner builds to a rebuilt Hummer, a concept electric muscle car and a prototype DeLorean. The ten cars below are an editorial selection, not an official Universal ranking. No studio or production source publishes a canonical order. Universal’s film description puts the approach plainly: “In FAST, we cast cars like we cast characters.” This list follows that logic, with each pick chosen for its role in the story and the build behind it.
How this ranking is built
The sources do not include a scoring system, so the order reflects editorial judgment. Each car is weighed against four criteria:
- Screen prominence: how often the car appears and how central it is to a scene.
- Connection to a principal character: whether the car is tied to Dom, Dante or another lead.
- Distinctiveness of the build: how far the screen car departs from a stock vehicle.
- Contribution to the action and locations: whether the car drives a sequence, such as the Rome set pieces.
The ten cars, in order
1. Dom’s Dodge Charger
Dom’s Charger is the franchise’s signature American muscle car and the vehicle most closely tied to the lead character. The Independent’s 2023 production feature reports that fourteen examples of the classic Charger were used in filming, and that US picture-car supervisor Dennis McCarthy wanted a more traditional look for this installment. Model-year labels for the car vary across published lists, so this article uses “Dom’s Charger” without a year.
McCarthy said: “The car we always put the most effort into will always be Dom’s Charger.” (The Independent, May 18, 2023)

2. Dante’s 1966 Chevrolet Impala
The purple Impala is associated with Dante Reyes, played by Jason Momoa, and it appears in a major race and battle with Dom. The Daily Star’s 2023 vehicle list also identifies Dante’s car as a purple 1966 Impala. McCarthy, in the Independent interview, described the sequence this way: “Dante’s 66 Impala is pretty awesome. It comes into a great battle between Dom and Dante. It’s a four-car race but it’s the Impala that is the one you’re watching.”
3. Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV
The Independent calls this car an Alfa Romeo GT2000 and reports that UK/Europe picture-car supervisor Alex King was especially proud of it. The car used in Rome was modified by Somerset-based Alfaholics. According to King’s account, it was fitted with a 2.3-litre Ford EcoBoost engine and a Mazda manual gearbox, which he said gave “full control of the car” and a “spectacular drive.” The Daily Star calls it a 1971 Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV. Neither outlet’s naming settles the exact model history, so this article uses “Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV.” The powertrain described above is the modified film car, not a factory-original specification.
4. Datsun 240Z
A tuner-style 240Z appears mid-flip during the action. McCarthy explained its place in the film: “We brought in a 240Z. You always want a handful of tuner cars. It’s always hard to get everything in there you want as the movie is only an hour and 30 minutes long, but nonetheless, the 240Z was a great addition.” The Daily Star labels its example a 1975 Datsun 240Z. The production interview does not give a year, so treat that label as one outlet’s identification.

5. Lamborghini Gallardo
Three examples of the V10-powered Lamborghini Gallardo were used in the Rome sequence and wrapped in bright chrome gold, according to The Independent. The Daily Star labels the car a 2003 Gallardo. That year is not corroborated by the Independent’s production interview, so it is omitted here.

The Independent’s production account says the cars on screen were standard 997-generation 911s modified to look like GT3s, not genuine GT3 models. King’s team reportedly chose a less expensive base car because the vehicles were likely to be modified and damaged during filming. The Daily Star describes one car as a 997-generation GT3 RS and gives powertrain figures. Those figures conflict with the production account, so this article does not repeat them and does not describe the cars as factory GT3 or GT3 RS models.
7. Hummer H2 armored vehicle
The UK team rebuilt road-going Hummer H2s with an armored appearance for the film, and examples are blown up in the story. This is a screen modification. It does not mean a production H2 is a military or armored vehicle, and the vehicles shown on screen should not be read as production specification.

8. Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Banshee concept
The Independent identifies this as a future-facing electric muscle-car concept featured in Fast X. McCarthy praised its styling and said he wished there had been more time to use it in an action sequence. It is a concept, not a production car, and the 2023 source does not establish whether or when it would be sold.
9. Mini Countryman rally builds
Alex King’s team bought ten UK Countrymans and modified them to look like rally cars. King said they performed well and were reliable during filming. This is the production team’s account of the film builds, not an independent road test, so it should not be read as a measure of how a standard Countryman drives or endures rally use.
10. Cipher’s DeLorean prototype
The DeLorean prototype appears in a relatively small role as Cipher’s car. McCarthy told The Independent that production had access to it for only two days because it was in high demand at the time. This is not the classic DMC-12 from Back to the Future. The source describes a newer electric sports-car prototype, and the two should not be confused.

What a screen car is, and what it isn’t
Film cars are often modified, duplicated or represented by lookalikes for stunt work. A car in a shot may differ from its road-going namesake in engine, gearbox, body, or even whether it is a genuine model. The entries above give the specifics the production team reported. For any car on this list, assume the screen version is a film build unless a source says otherwise, and do not use screen performance as a guide to what the same model does on the road.
Production scale
The Independent’s May 18, 2023 feature, based on conversations with picture-car supervisors, gives these figures. They are a named secondary report, not an audited Universal accounting:
- Up to 200 cars were used in Fast X.
- Around £5 million was spent purchasing vehicles for the film.
- More than £10 million was spent in total, including modifications, labor, shipping and crew.
- Fourteen examples of Dom’s Charger were used in filming.
- Ten Mini Countrymans were bought by the UK team for filming.
- Three Lamborghini Gallardos were used.
Watching the cars on home video
Universal’s home-video edition is the most direct way to see these cars in more detail. According to Universal Pictures At Home’s Fast X page, the Fast X 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital edition includes car-oriented bonus content, including “Xtreme Rides of FAST X,” and clips named for the Cannon Car, the Charger, Fast rides and a 1993 LX Mustang. Universal said the home-video release contains “over one hour” of bonus content overall. The Universal Pictures Home Entertainment press release of July 25, 2023 gave a digital release date of August 1, 2023 and a 4K/Blu-ray street date of August 8, 2023. Those dates are from 2023. Taken together, the ten cars show why the film’s garage has so much range: a franchise anchor, a character car, two tuner-era classics, a European sports car, a supercar, a tactical-looking utility vehicle, a concept and a prototype. Each entry above links the car to the scene or character that gives it its place.
