It includes two T-handle tools and 30 plugs, but it is not a complete permanent-repair solution: U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) guidance says passenger and light-truck tires need a demounted inspection and an internal patch as well as a plug or stem.
What comes in the Tooluxe 50002L kit?
Tooluxe lists these contents for the 50002L:
- One T-handle insert tool
- One T-handle spiral probe tool
- Two hex keys
- 30 string plugs
- One storage case
The maker markets the kit for punctures in tubeless tires and says it is not recommended for tires with tubes or sidewall blowouts. Those are the manufacturer’s stated uses and exclusions, not independent evidence that the kit will successfully repair a particular tire. AutoZone’s listing corroborates the model, 35-piece count, case, hardened-steel handle material, and included plugs: AutoZone’s Tooluxe 50002L listing. The maker’s product details are at Tooluxe’s 50002L product page.
What kinds of tire damage are suitable for repair?
For passenger and light-truck tires, USTMA says repair should be considered only when the damage is in the tread area and the puncture is no larger than 1/4 inch (6 mm). The tire must be removed from the wheel and inspected for damage, including damage to the inner liner. Tire or vehicle manufacturers may set additional restrictions. That size limit is not a universal rule for motorcycles, ATVs, RVs, commercial tires, or every tire construction. If the tire type, puncture location, or damage is uncertain, check the tire manufacturer’s guidance and have a qualified tire service professional assess it.

Is a string plug alone a permanent repair?
No. USTMA states, “A plug alone is an unacceptable repair.” For a proper repair, the tire is demounted and inspected; a rubber stem or plug fills the injury, and a patch seals the inner liner. A technical bulletin hosted by NHTSA likewise describes the need for both a plug and an interior patch, and says sidewall punctures should not be repaired: NHTSA-hosted tire repair bulletin.
The 50002L’s listed contents are for an external string-plug method; the maker does not list an interior patch among the kit contents. Do not treat inserting one of its plugs as a substitute for a proper inspection and repair.

Can you plug a tire without removing it from the rim?
The kit is designed around inserting a string plug from outside the tire, but that does not meet USTMA’s proper-repair procedure for passenger and light-truck tires. That procedure requires removing the tire from the wheel so the inside can be inspected and the inner liner patched. An external plug may be considered only as a temporary roadside measure when appropriate; arrange a professional inspection and repair rather than assuming the tire is permanently fixed.
