AutoTech Plus reports a J.D. Power reliability score of 91/100 for the final model year and an overall score of 86/100, plus an 81/100 driving-experience figure. It also reports Kelley Blue Book owner figures of 4.5/5 for performance and an 83% recommendation rate. The original score pages, survey definitions, sample sizes, and dates were not checked, so these numbers are not a guarantee of reliability or a sound basis for direct brand-to-brand rankings without consistent methodology.
The article says iSeeCars did not have an IS 500-specific study and attributes a 180,000–200,000-mile lifespan range to the wider IS family. That is not an IS 500-specific lifespan estimate. Its mention of one owner reporting 85,000 miles with routine maintenance is an anecdote, not representative evidence.

The article’s suggestion that conventional suspension, steel body construction, and familiar Lexus hardware may be simpler to own is an interpretation, not repair-cost data. It says the Ultimate Edition was limited to 500 units. Confirm model-year status, production quantity, and current availability with Lexus or authoritative market records; a limited-edition claim alone does not establish scarcity or future value.
