The Honda CB1000 Hornet SP has a credible value argument: Honda equips it with premium braking and rear suspension, a quickshifter in the markets where it is listed, and a liter-class inline-four. But the available prices and specifications do not establish that it is the best-value Japanese motorcycle. That verdict depends on local transaction prices, rival equipment and ownership costs—not the feature list alone.
What the Hornet SP costs—and where
Honda’s published prices show why the SP attracts value comparisons, but they apply to different model years and markets and should not be treated as a single global price.
| Market and model year | Published price | What the figure means |
|---|---|---|
| UK, 2025 | CB1000 Hornet: £9,099; CB1000 Hornet SP: £10,099 | Honda UK list prices. The SP is £1,000 above the standard model on this price list. Honda UK specifications and prices. |
| U.S., 2026 | Base MSRP: $10,999; destination: $775; displayed total: $11,774 | Honda’s displayed total excludes taxes, license, registration, dealer-installed options and set-up fees; dealer prices may vary. Honda U.S. quote page. |
The UK figures compare the SP with its standard counterpart in the same market and model year. The U.S. figure is not an out-the-door price, and the supplied U.S. price information does not give a comparable standard-model price. Ask dealers for written, itemized quotes before comparing what a buyer would actually pay.
What the SP adds to its value case
Brakes, suspension and shifting
Honda UK lists Brembo Stylema front calipers and Öhlins rear suspension for the 2025 UK SP. Honda’s regional product materials also list a quickshifter, but equipment can vary by market and model year; confirm the exact package on the motorcycle being sold. #1 Best Overall
- Installation:Suitable for CB1000 Hornet SP 2026 2025.
- Anti-fall protection: When the motorcycle falls, the slider touches the ground first and slides, reducing the impact force on the engine frame and the risk of damage.
- High wear resistance: Made of high-quality materials, it can withstand friction with the ground and other objects, and is not easily damaged even after long-term use.
- Toughness: It has a certain toughness and will not break easily when impacted, and can absorb some of the impact force.
- We truly care about your customer experience and your experience with our products. If you have any questions or concerns!
These are concrete, readily identifiable pieces of equipment that strengthen the case for the SP over a less-equipped motorcycle. They do not, by themselves, show how the bike performs on the road or how its components compare with a rival’s. A higher-specification part is not proof of superior ride quality, stopping distance or value without comparable evidence.
A liter-class four-cylinder
For the 2026 U.S. model, Honda specifies a 1000cc liquid-cooled inline-four and a six-speed manual transmission. Honda describes the engine as based on its CBR1000RR architecture and specially tuned for more midrange power and torque for street riding; that is the manufacturer’s description, not an independent test finding. For the 2025 UK SP, Honda publishes 115.6 kW at 11,000 rpm and 107 Nm at 9,000 rpm. Those are UK-market manufacturer figures for that model year; they should not be silently combined with U.S. specifications from another year. Honda UK specifications.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why “best bang for your buck” remains unproven
A list price and premium components establish that the SP is well-equipped on paper; they do not establish a market-wide best buy. The available evidence does not provide a current, same-market comparison with Japanese rivals, dealer transaction prices, warranty terms, servicing costs, insurance or depreciation. Nor does it establish independent ride-test conclusions that would help weigh the equipment in everyday use.

- Enhanced high-speed stability: Optimized aerodynamic design converts airflow into downforce, significantly improving vehicle stability and ground feel during high-speed driving and cornering.
- Optimize braking performance: Additional downforce is applied to the front axle during heavy braking, improving front wheel grip and making the braking process smoother and more powerful.
- Improved heat dissipation efficiency: A special airflow guidance structure directs cool air to the engine and exhaust system, helping key components maintain a reasonable operating temperature.
- Optimized exterior styling: The T-shaped design is integrated with the body lines to enhance the sportiness and aggressiveness of the "Bumblebee" bionic design and increase the visual appeal of the entire vehicle.
- Convenient and easy installation: Adapts to the original installation points, no drilling or welding is required, and with detailed tutorials, novices can complete the assembly quickly.
A fair comparison should put the SP beside at least two genuine alternatives available in the buyer’s market and evaluate them on consistent terms:
- Out-the-door cost: compare written local quotes, including delivery, set-up, taxes, registration and any required fees.
- Standard equipment: check which brakes, suspension components and quickshifter are included rather than optional, and verify model year and regional specification.
- Performance and weight: compare manufacturer figures with matching units and equivalent measurement conventions. For context, Honda lists the 2025 U.S. SP at 465 lb curb weight, including standard equipment, required fluids and a full tank, with a 4.5-gallon capacity. Honda U.S. 2025 technical specifications.
- Ownership costs: obtain comparable warranty details and estimates for scheduled servicing, insurance and likely resale value.
- Intended use: decide whether the equipment and engine configuration matter for the kind of riding you actually do; a specification advantage has little value if it does not suit your priorities.
Independent impressions are also relevant, but a review listing alone is not enough to support claims about comfort, handling or real-world performance. Motorcyclist has a page titled “2025 Honda CB1000 Hornet SP Review”; the available information here does not establish its ride-test findings.

How to decide whether it is value for you
- Identify the exact market and model year of the bike you are considering, then verify its standard equipment with the regional Honda listing or dealer.
- Get itemized, same-market quotes for the SP and at least two comparable motorcycles. Do not compare a list price for one bike with an out-the-door price for another.
- Compare equipment, warranty and expected running costs alongside price; use specifications sourced on the same basis where possible.
- Arrange a test ride if available and judge the bike against your own needs rather than treating component names or engine figures as a substitute for riding impressions.
