For U.S. shoppers choosing a new Hyundai performance car, the 2026 Elantra N is the clearest sport-sedan pick; the 2026 IONIQ 5 N is Hyundai’s high-performance electric option. Neither is a traditional two-door sports coupe. If you mean a classic Hyundai coupe, the Tiburon—and, with details verified separately, the Genesis Coupe—are used-car searches, not new-car alternatives. Hyundai says premium fuel is required to achieve its estimated maximum horsepower. Its listed U.S. starting MSRP is $35,300, excluding freight, tax, title, and license; check Hyundai or a dealer for current pricing and availability.
Wheels and tires matter to everyday use
Hyundai lists standard 19-inch wheels and 245/35 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S summer tires. That tire type may not suit every climate or year-round driving plan. Check the exact vehicle and wheel configuration before replacing tires, and consider whether a summer compound fits the temperatures and conditions where you drive.
For track interest, distinguish the car from its racing namesake
Hyundai announced the limited-production 2026 Elantra N TCR Edition on November 20, 2025, with U.S. availability planned for the first quarter of 2026. The announcement described a six-speed manual or eight-speed DCT, an adjustable carbon-fiber rear wing, forged 19-inch wheels, and four-piston front calipers; it said pricing would be announced with market availability. Because that planned availability window has passed, confirm present launch status, exact configuration, inventory, and price with Hyundai or a dealer before treating it as a buyable option. Hyundai’s announcement is the source for the announced equipment and timing.

Hyundai Motorsport reports that the Elantra N TCR won its Nürburgring 24 Hours TCR class five consecutive years, from 2021 through 2025. That record is useful context for Hyundai’s competition program; it does not establish the road car’s reliability, consumer value, or superiority in a comparative road test. 2026 Hyundai IONIQ 5 N: best electric performance option
The IONIQ 5 N belongs on a broad Hyundai performance-car shortlist because Hyundai describes it as its highest-performance EV sports car. It is the electric alternative to the Elantra N, not a direct substitute in body style or powertrain. Choose it if an electric performance vehicle is what you want; choose the Elantra N if your priorities include the sedan format and its documented manual-transmission option.

What “N” and “N Line” mean
Hyundai’s N performance brand and its N Line trims are not the same thing. Hyundai describes N Line as a sport-oriented trim family with styling and performance upgrades over standard models. An N Line badge alone does not mean a vehicle is a full N model, so compare the exact model and trim rather than relying on the badge.
Hyundai dates the N brand’s launch to 2015. Its official history identifies the i30 N, which entered production in 2017, as the first production N car; it lists the Elantra N launch in 2021. Scoupe: an early sporty-looking coupe
Hyundai Motor Group dates the Scoupe to 1990 and explains its development code, “SLC,” as “Sport-looking Car.” The company characterizes it as a two-door coupe designed to look sporty. Its account says Hyundai’s own Alpha engine appeared in 1991, followed by the company’s first turbocharged model. Tiburon: Hyundai’s more substantial sports-model milestone
Hyundai Motor Group says the Tiburon was released in April 1996, used a Beta-engine-based powertrain, and was built with Hyundai in-house technology on a chassis derived from the second-generation Elantra platform. The company calls it Korea’s first fully independent sports model and credits it with helping establish a domestic motorsports and tuning community. Those characterizations are Hyundai’s own historical account.
For a used Tiburon, evaluate the individual car rather than assuming all examples share the same condition or value. The evidence available here does not establish current used prices, reliability rankings, or a buyer’s checklist specific to the model; review service records, condition, and local availability before purchase.

Genesis Coupe: a separate used-car search
