The clearest comparison is not the advertised monthly payment but the payment alongside the lease term and cash due at signing; those upfront amounts substantially raised the effective monthly cost in the December examples.
How the 2024 offers compare
Electrek’s December 24, 2024 roundup listed the following advertised examples. Its reported effective monthly figures include the upfront amount spread across the lease term; they are not a standardized measure of every fee or tax.

Why the teaser payment can mislead
A lease quote with a low monthly figure may require substantial cash up front. In Electrek’s December examples, the reported effective monthly cost was higher than the advertised payment for every vehicle listed. For instance, the EV6’s $159 advertised payment and $3,849 due at signing corresponded to a reported effective cost of $319 per month; the Equinox EV’s $299 payment and $3,169 due at signing corresponded to $431.

Use the effective amount as a quick screening tool, not as a complete quote. The source’s amortization method may not include the same taxes and fees as another quote. Ask the dealer for a written breakdown of the total amount due, monthly payments, term, mileage allowance, taxes, acquisition and documentation fees, and any other charges. Compare offers only after confirming which upfront costs are included in the calculation.
Offers differed by date, location, and mileage
A separate February IONIQ 5 offer
CarsDirect reported a distinct national offer on February 21, 2024: a 2024 Hyundai IONIQ 5 Long Range at $299 per month for 36 months, with $3,499 due at signing, a stated MSRP of $47,035, and 10,000 miles per year. CarsDirect said the offer was supported by $10,000 in lease cash. This was a February snapshot, not the same offer as Electrek’s December example; the two should not be combined.

Location changed the advertised Ariya payment
Electrek contrasted a $99-per-month Nissan Ariya example in Colorado with a $169-per-month example in New York. That difference illustrates why a national headline or a quote from another state cannot establish what a local shopper would have paid. Eligibility, participating inventory, and regional incentives all need confirmation for the specific offer.
A historical Ford promotion
Electrek also described Ford’s Power Promise at the time as including a free Level 2 home charger and standard installation. That was a historical promotion attached to the article’s 2024 context, not evidence of a current benefit or a named charger model.

Promotional quotes versus typical lease payments
Experian Automotive’s State of the Automotive Finance Market for Q2 2024 reported an average lease payment of $414 for the Hyundai IONIQ 5, $411 for the Nissan Ariya, $579 for the Ford Mustang Mach-E, and $464 for the Kia EV6. It also reported an average payment difference of $88 between a lease and a loan across all EV models.
These are market-level figures, not quotes for the specific advertised offers above or recommendations for an individual shopper. They provide context for lease payments in that quarter but do not establish what a particular trim, region, or qualified customer would receive. How to evaluate a lease offer
- Confirm the exact vehicle. Match model year, trim, drivetrain, and any required options to the vehicle in dealer inventory.
- Check the location and dates. Confirm the offer applies in your state, is still within its expiration period, and is available for that dealer’s vehicle.
- Read the full payment assumptions. Verify the lease term, annual mileage allowance, credit qualification, and whether taxes and fees are included. An allowance such as 10,000 miles per year can materially affect whether the deal fits your driving.
- Calculate a comparable monthly cost. Add the upfront charges you will actually pay to the scheduled lease payments, then divide by the number of months. Keep taxes and fees visible rather than assuming every advertised effective-payment figure handles them the same way.
- Get the complete written quote. Confirm the total due at signing, recurring payment, acquisition and dealer fees, applicable taxes, and any conditions tied to incentives before comparing it with another offer.

The examples support a cost comparison of a limited set of advertised 2024 offers; they do not establish a complete ranking of every electric SUV deal offered that year. They also do not provide a consistent basis for judging range, charging, cargo space, or equipment. A lower lease payment alone cannot show which SUV is the better vehicle or the better fit.
