The 2027 Chevrolet Bolt returns with a 65-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, an EPA-estimated 262 miles of range, and a standard NACS charging port. The updates go beyond the battery: Chevrolet has revised the powertrain, added larger displays and updated styling, and brought back the Bolt in LT and RS trims. The LT starts at $28,995 MSRP.
What changed for the 2027 Bolt?
The headline change is the LFP battery. General Motors describes the 2027 Bolt as its first North American application of this chemistry and says it supports faster charging while helping keep costs down. The battery is rated at 65 kWh, the same capacity as the previous Bolt, so the range gain is not from a larger pack.
GM also uses a motor and power electronics shared with the Chevrolet Equinox EV. Bolt chief engineer Jeremy Short attributed the range improvement to the components’ efficiency: “We have the same battery capacity as before, but it was the improved efficiency of these components that gave us 15 miles of additional range.” GM News
How far can the 2027 Bolt go?
GM’s August 2026 model overview lists an EPA-estimated range of 262 miles for both LT and RS. Chevrolet’s October 2025 launch announcement initially gave a 255-mile GM estimate; the newer published figure is 262 miles and is identified as EPA-estimated. Neither number guarantees what a particular driver will achieve. Range varies with temperature, terrain, battery age and condition, vehicle load, and driving habits.

These are manufacturer-published figures, not results from an independent instrumented road test. For a buyer, the useful takeaway is that the two trims share the same stated range estimate; real-world range depends on conditions.
What charging equipment and speeds does it support?
A native NACS port is standard, giving the Bolt direct access to compatible NACS charging equipment without making an adapter the default requirement for those stations. Chevrolet lists public DC fast charging at up to 150 kW-plus and says a compatible fast charger can take the battery from 10% to 80% in 25 minutes. That is a manufacturer estimate, not a guaranteed stop time: battery state, charger output, temperature, and vehicle settings affect charging speed. Level 2 AC charging is listed at up to 11.5 kW. Chevrolet says GM Energy NACS adapters are available for purchase, but its FAQ does not specify which adapter a particular owner needs. Check the Bolt’s charging-standard compatibility and the station’s connector before buying or relying on an adapter.
What trims are available, and what does the Bolt cost?
Chevrolet offers the 2027 Bolt in LT and RS trims. The LT starts at $28,995 MSRP, and the RS is the sportier appearance-and-equipment choice. Chevrolet reported nationwide dealer availability as of April 2026. The stated starting MSRP excludes taxes, title, license, dealer fees, and options; it is not a promised transaction price.

Those figures make the LT’s starting price and shared range estimate clear, but the published information cited here does not give an RS starting price or a complete trim-by-trim equipment list. Compare the actual window sticker and available features for the vehicles you are considering rather than assuming the RS adds range.
What is new inside and outside?
The cabin has been redesigned around an 11.3-inch central touchscreen and an 11-inch driver display. Chevrolet has also updated the front and rear styling, giving the returning compact EV a refreshed look alongside the new RS trim. The changes are intended to make the Bolt feel updated as a whole, not merely to replace its battery.

Does the 2027 Bolt offer Super Cruise or home backup?
Super Cruise
Super Cruise is available, not standard. It provides hands-free driver assistance on compatible roads, subject to operating conditions and the required plan or trial. Availability of the feature does not mean the car can drive itself in every setting; the driver must follow the system’s operating requirements.
Vehicle-to-home power
Chevrolet describes the Bolt as vehicle-to-home (V2H) capable when paired with a GM Energy Home System and a properly equipped home. The car alone is not a home-backup system. The cited information does not establish installation requirements, system cost, or how long a particular home could be powered, so those details need to be confirmed for the home and equipment involved.

What warranty does Chevrolet list?
