The Ford Mustang was the best-selling sports car in this reported U.S. ranking for full-year 2024, ahead of the Chevrolet Corvette and Porsche 911. The list is a retrospective—not a “so far” snapshot—and covers models for which sales data were available, rather than every car that might qualify as a sports car.
What were the best-selling sports cars in 2024?
These are U.S. reported sales for calendar-year 2024, as compiled by Road & Track. The ranking reflects available model reporting, so it should not be read as a complete or universally agreed census of sports cars.

|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ford Mustang | 44,003 |
| 2 | Chevrolet Corvette | 33,330 |
| 3 | Porsche 911 | 14,128 |
| 4 | Toyota GR86 | 11,426 |
| 5 | Mazda MX-5 Miata | 8,103 |
| 6 | Chevrolet Camaro | 5,859 |
| 7 | Porsche 718 | 5,698 |
| 8 | Subaru BRZ | 3,345 |
| 9 | Nissan Z | 3,164 |
| 10 | Toyota GR Supra | 2,615 |
How far ahead were the Mustang and Corvette?
The Mustang led the list with 44,003 reported U.S. sales, 10,673 more than the Corvette’s 33,330. The Porsche 911 followed at 14,128, making the gap between second and third larger than the gap between first and second.
How did the GR86, BRZ, Z and Supra compare?
Toyota GR86 versus Subaru BRZ
The GR86’s 11,426 reported U.S. sales were more than three times the BRZ’s 3,345. Both cars appear in the same ranking, but the totals alone do not establish why the sales differed.

What does the ranking include—and leave out?
“Sports car” is not a consistent category across sales reports. Road & Track notes that reporting can combine performance variants with larger model series. Carscoops’ compilation is intended to focus on two-door coupes and convertibles, but its BMW 2-, 4- and 8-Series figures include sedans as well as coupes and convertibles; its Mercedes GT total also includes sedans and coupes. These classification choices make any exact order dependent on what models and body styles are counted.

Carscoops’ compiled set totaled 247,631 U.S. sales in 2024, down 13.1% from 285,025 in 2023. Those totals and the decline describe Carscoops’ selected set, not the entire U.S. auto industry or an official all-sports-car statistic. Its table also includes some discontinued models that continued selling from inventory.

The top-ten figures above are U.S. sales. They are not directly comparable with Porsche’s worldwide delivery totals: Porsche reported 50,941 911s delivered globally in 2024, up 2% year over year, and 23,670 718 Boxster and Cayman models, up 15%. Those figures cover worldwide deliveries of Porsche models, not U.S. sales across the full ranking. Porsche’s January 13, 2025 release describes the company as “extremely robust in 2024, in a challenging market environment.”
