| Where? | Fisher Road and the West Cedar Parkway/Cedar Port Parkway area in Southeast Texas. |
| Crash sequence? | Roadway departure, impact with a large concrete culvert, then an engulfing fire. |
| Occupants? | One driver; no other occupant was reported. |
| Cause of the roadway departure? | Not established in the initial reporting. |
| Fire origin? | Not confirmed. The reports do not establish whether the battery, another vehicle component or fuel from the crash caused it. |
| Defect or Tesla-system involvement? | Not established. The reports provide no finding of a manufacturing defect, Autopilot involvement or a causal role for any Tesla system. |
Was the fire caused by the battery?
There is no confirmed answer in the cited crash reports. A high-impact collision can damage multiple vehicle systems, but the available accounts do not identify the fire’s point of origin or state that the high-voltage battery started it. It would therefore be inaccurate to describe this incident as proof of a battery defect or a broader Cybertruck design problem.
Is this evidence of a Cybertruck defect?
Not on the information publicly reported at the time. Investigators had not announced why the driver lost control, whether speed or impairment played a role, whether a vehicle system was involved, or whether a manufacturing defect contributed. Those remain unanswered investigative questions, not established causes. ABC13’s initial report said the investigation was ongoing: ABC13 Houston.
