Tesla’s own compilation put the average estimate at 422,850, Reuters cited a separate Visible Alpha poll at 432,810, and the Associated Press cited FactSet at 440,000.
How far below expectations were Tesla’s Q4 deliveries?
Against Tesla’s company-compiled average, deliveries were 4,623 vehicles short, or about 1.1%. Against the Visible Alpha estimate reported by Reuters, they were 14,583 short, or about 3.4%. Against the FactSet figure cited by AP, they were 21,773 short, or about 4.9%.

The estimates are different benchmarks, not one interchangeable consensus. Tesla’s December 29, 2025 investor-relations page, updated January 1, 2026, lists a mean of 422,850 and a median of 420,399 across 20 sell-side estimates. The company labels Q4 onward as estimates and says it does not endorse analysts’ information, recommendations, or conclusions. What do the Q4 results say about Tesla’s year?
AP reported that Tesla delivered 1.64 million vehicles in 2025, a 9% decline year over year. The fourth-quarter miss came amid an annual drop, rather than a year in which deliveries were growing overall.

AP also reported that BYD sold 2.26 million vehicles in 2025 and became the largest electric-vehicle maker by sales. That comparison concerns annual vehicle sales as reported by AP; it is not a direct comparison of Q4 deliveries or of financial results.

Reuters described the expiration of U.S. EV tax credits and rising global competition as demand pressures. It noted that the prior quarter had benefited from buyers rushing to claim credits before they expired. AP likewise identified the end of the $7,500 U.S. EV purchase credit at the end of September as a headwind.

Reuters attributed expected weakness in North America and Europe to Deutsche Bank analyst Edison Yu. These are reported explanations and analyst assessments, not a quantified breakdown of why deliveries fell. The cited material does not establish how much of the result was caused by the credit’s expiration, competition, regional demand, model mix, or other factors.
