Canada’s federal Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP) lists the 2026 Tesla Model Y RWD-B for up to $5,000, and Tesla Canada lists the Model Y RWD at a $49,990 MSRP. That makes the trim a potential fit—not a guaranteed rebate: eligibility depends on the exact transaction, the buyer, available funding and whether the seller participates. The official sources reviewed confirm the current listing and price, but do not establish the amount or effective date of the price drop.
What the official listing and Tesla price show
Transport Canada’s EVAP vehicle list includes the 2026 Tesla Model Y RWD-B as a battery-electric vehicle. It lists a maximum incentive of $5,000 for a purchase or lease of at least 48 months. Tesla Canada’s incentives page lists the Model Y RWD at $49,990 MSRP. The federal list calls the trim “RWD-B,” while Tesla uses “RWD”; confirm that the vehicle on your order matches the listed configuration with the seller.
Those figures do not prove that the vehicle’s price was reduced by a particular amount, or on a particular date. The current official sources establish today’s listed MSRP and the model-list entry, not the prior price history. Tesla also distinguishes MSRP from delivery-related fees and all-in pricing, so do not treat $49,990 as the final transaction value.
How much EVAP could apply to this Model Y?
For the 2026 Model Y RWD-B, Transport Canada’s list gives these maximum amounts by transaction type:

These are listed maximums, not guaranteed payments. The amount is determined by when the seller submits the eligibility assessment, and program funding is first come, first served. EVAP’s FAQ says cash and financed purchases can qualify, leases must be at least 12 months, and an individual may receive one incentive over the program’s five-year period.
Why MSRP alone does not settle eligibility
For vehicles not made in Canada, the general EVAP ceiling is a final transaction value of $50,000 or less. That is not simply an MSRP test. Certain vehicle-related charges and additions count toward the value, while defined items are excluded; discounts count in full whether applied before or after tax. Added trim or options may push a deal above the ceiling even when the advertised MSRP is below it. Ask the participating seller to calculate the program’s transaction value from the actual paperwork.

Transport Canada says Canadian-made vehicles are exempt from the price cap. It also says a vehicle may qualify even if it is not on the published list, provided it meets the program criteria. The converse matters here: appearing on the list does not waive the transaction-value test or the other requirements.
Who and what can qualify
EVAP applies to eligible new-vehicle transactions entered into on or after February 16, 2026. The vehicle generally must be made in Canada or in a country with a free-trade agreement with Canada, be a light-duty vehicle under 8,500 pounds, meet Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, be road-capable and have at least four functioning wheels. It must be new, meaning first registration; a demonstrator may qualify if its odometer is below 10,000 km. Used vehicles are not eligible.

Buyer eligibility also applies, and the incentive is not a consumer-submitted rebate claim. Transport Canada’s eligibility criteria explain the vehicle and transaction conditions. Its EVAP FAQ covers the transaction-value calculation and buyer process.
How to claim the incentive at purchase or lease
- Confirm the exact vehicle and deal. Ask the seller to verify the model year and trim against Transport Canada’s list, calculate the final transaction value, and confirm the proposed transaction meets the program rules.
- Check the seller’s participation. A dealership or authorized seller administers the point-of-sale process. Tesla says incentives are not guaranteed and it may choose not to participate, so confirm EVAP handling for your particular order before relying on a rebate.
- Complete the seller’s eligibility process. You sign consent for the seller to submit information to Transport Canada. If approved, you sign an attestation; the seller then applies the incentive to the bill of sale or lease agreement. Transport Canada says validation is valid for 90 days, and consumers cannot submit a claim directly.
- Review the paperwork and timing. The incentive is applied after taxes and fees, and the amount depends on the transaction type and when the eligibility assessment is submitted. Make sure the agreed amount appears on the final paperwork.
Funding and program timing
Transport Canada announced $2.275 billion over five years for EVAP and reported $1.92 billion remaining as of October 1, 2026, on a program page modified October 2, 2026. The program is scheduled to run through March 31, 2031, or end sooner if its funding is exhausted. A remaining-funds figure is a dated snapshot, not a reservation for a future order. Tesla’s incentives page also warns that the program may change, funding can lapse and incentives are not guaranteed.

Check Transport Canada’s EVAP program page, the eligible-vehicle list and Tesla Canada’s incentives page close to signing. The relevant question is whether your exact configuration and transaction qualify when the seller submits the assessment—not just whether a Model Y appears on a list today.
