He suspected an X “shadow ban,” but the available reporting does not establish that his account was suppressed, identify a cause for the lower views, or show that criticism of Tesla triggered any action.
What Lamar MK reported
In a September 3, 2024 report, Futurism quoted Lamar MK saying, “I post all my videos to YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and they get decent amount of views.” He said the same videos on X “barely get 100 views, it’s like zero reach.” He also wrote, “Either nothing is wrong, or I’m just shadow-banned to have no reach on here.”

Why the Cybertruck became part of the dispute
Futurism described MK as a committed Tesla fan who had taken delivery of two later Cybertrucks and said both had serious problems. The complaints reported were:

- a charging cable that would not disengage;
- sagging headliner trim;
- repeated red error messages; and
- being locked out of the vehicle.
These are reported owner complaints, not verified diagnoses or evidence of a general Cybertruck reliability rate. The same account continued promoting Tesla and called the Cybertruck a major innovation, so the story is about a fan criticizing his own vehicles—not a documented change in his overall support for the company.
Did X actually shadowban him?
There is no public evidence in the report proving an account-level shadow ban. “Shadow-banned” is MK’s interpretation of a reach difference, and “barely 100 views” is not a validated measurement from X or an independent study. Different platforms also have different audiences, recommendation systems, video distribution, and view-counting practices, so a lower number on one service cannot by itself establish suppression.

Does X Premium guarantee more views?
MK also questioned the value of the X Premium subscription he described as an $8-a-month service in 2024. A paid subscription does not amount to a promise that every video will receive a particular number of impressions or broad account-wide distribution.
X’s current Premium documentation lists Basic, Premium, and Premium+ tiers and includes reply prioritization, with greater prioritization at higher tiers. Reply prioritization can affect the position of replies in conversations; it is not a guaranteed boost for video recommendations, timelines, search, or total views. X notes that features can change and availability may depend on platform and location. Those current tiers should not be assumed to be identical to the subscription MK had in 2024.

Even then, X’s public documentation may identify possible mechanisms without revealing the ranking decision for a particular post.

In MK’s case, the public record stops at an allegation: a Tesla fan said his Cybertruck-related videos performed poorly on X and wondered whether he had been shadowbanned. It does not show that X punished him for complaining about defective vehicles.
