What happened in Tesla’s fourth quarter?
Tesla delivered 418,227 vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2025, down 15.6% year over year, according to the company release and TechCrunch. The quarterly total comprised 406,585 Model 3/Y deliveries and 11,642 deliveries in “Other Models.” The sharper fourth-quarter drop provides context for the full-year decline, but it is a distinct period and should not be substituted for the annual result.

What the delivery figures do—and do not—show
Deliveries are not the same as production, revenue, profit, market share or customer registrations. Tesla itself cautioned that deliveries are only one measure of company performance and should not, by themselves, be relied on as an indicator of quarterly financial results, which depend on factors including average selling price, cost of sales and foreign-exchange movements. The figures establish a reported decline in Tesla’s deliveries and BYD’s higher reported BEV sales for 2025; they do not establish the companies’ relative profitability or overall financial performance.
