The Tesla Cybertruck is a large electric pickup offered in three U.S. configurations: Dual Motor AWD, Premium AWD, and tri-motor Cyberbeast. Tesla estimates roughly 320–325 miles of range, with maximum towing ratings from 7,500 to 11,000 pounds depending on trim and wheel setup. Its appeal is distinctive design, quick acceleration, and substantial onboard power; the trade-offs include volatile pricing, a minimalist touchscreen-led cabin, and a major range penalty when towing.

This buyer-focused review uses Tesla’s published specifications and guidance alongside attributed third-party pricing and testing. Prices and equipment can change; confirm the live U.S. configurator and the specific vehicle’s recall status before purchase.

What is the Tesla Cybertruck?

The Cybertruck is Tesla’s full-size electric pickup, with a six-by-four-foot bed and a stark stainless-steel exterior. Tesla lists cargo volume of 117.3 cubic feet for Dual Motor AWD and 120.7 cubic feet for Premium AWD and Cyberbeast. Its footprint is substantial: the owner’s manual gives a length of 223.74 inches and a width of 95.01 inches including mirrors. Tesla’s product information and owner’s manual dimensions provide the published figures.

Photos and product imagery are available on Tesla’s Cybertruck page; image licensing should be checked before republication. No independent photography or vehicle test drive is represented here.

What are the Cybertruck’s specs?

Tesla’s U.S. product page lists three configurations. Figures below are manufacturer specifications or estimates; wheel and tire selection, options, and configuration changes may affect equipment and performance.

Configuration Tesla-estimated range 0–60 mph (Tesla claim) Maximum towing Ground clearance
Dual Motor AWD 325 miles 4.1 seconds 7,500 lb 9.76 in
Premium AWD 325 miles 4.1 seconds 11,000 lb Up to 16.02 in in Extract mode
Cyberbeast (tri-motor) 320 miles 2.6 seconds 11,000 lb Up to 16.02 in in Extract mode

Specifications are from Tesla’s product information; dimensions are in the owner’s manual. Extract-mode clearance is not the everyday setting for all driving conditions.

Performance and cabin equipment

Car and Driver describes the Dual Motor AWD at 593 horsepower and Cyberbeast at 834 horsepower, and recorded a 2.6-second 0–60 mph result for Cyberbeast in its testing. These are publication figures and a test result, not Tesla’s range or performance guarantee. The reviewer praised maneuverability for a truck of this size, attributing it to rear-wheel steering and steer-by-wire. It also noted a minimalist, touchscreen-oriented cabin without Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, and differences between trims in front-seat ventilation and rear-display equipment. See Car and Driver’s review for its full account.

How much does a Tesla Cybertruck cost?

There is no single dependable price in the available dated sources: listed figures differ by source and apparent price basis. Autoblog’s review dated May 21, 2026 listed $69,990 for AWD, $79,990 for Premium AWD, and $99,990 for Cyberbeast. Tesla’s retrieved configurator showed a Premium AWD vehicle price of $84,990 before separately stated destination, documentation, and order fees. Tesla’s offers page cited an $87,235 starting purchase price including order and destination fees, before other costs. These are snapshots, not guaranteed current quotes; the difference may reflect timing, configuration, fees, or promotion, and the sources do not establish one definitive live price.

Before comparing quotes, check the selected trim and options in the Tesla configurator and current offers. Separate vehicle price from destination and order fees, taxes, and other charges, and note whether incentives or lease terms are included. Autoblog’s dated figures are at its 2026 review.

Tesla’s product page lists basic coverage of four years or 50,000 miles and battery/drive-unit coverage of eight years or 150,000 miles. Confirm current warranty terms and eligibility for the market and vehicle being considered at Tesla.

How far can a Cybertruck go on one charge?

Tesla estimates 325 miles for Dual Motor AWD and Premium AWD and 320 miles for Cyberbeast. These are manufacturer estimates, not guaranteed trip distances. Actual range varies with speed, temperature, tires, driving conditions, and vehicle load. For an independent point of comparison, Car and Driver recorded 250 miles in its Cyberbeast range test against Tesla’s stated 320-mile estimate; that result describes the publication’s test, not what every owner will achieve.

Towing has a particularly large effect. Tesla says that towing “significantly decreases range” because it adds load to the motors, drivetrain, brakes, tires, and suspension. Plan a towing trip around charging stops using the actual trailer and load rather than assuming the unladen estimate applies. Tesla’s towing guidance explains the related limits and safety precautions.

How much can a Cybertruck tow?

Maximum towing depends on configuration and wheels. Tesla’s towing guidance lists up to 11,000 pounds for AWD with 20-inch wheels and 7,500 pounds for Long Range vehicles with 18- or 20-inch wheels. Its product lineup assigns a 7,500-pound maximum to Dual Motor AWD and 11,000 pounds to Premium AWD and Cyberbeast. Confirm the exact vehicle’s rating and equipment rather than treating the highest figure as universal.

A trailer’s weight is only one part of the calculation. Passengers and cargo, tongue weight, and the truck’s gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) affect what can be carried safely; maximum tongue weight is not the same thing as trailer weight. Tesla advises maintaining at least twice the typical following distance while towing, allowing for changed braking and stability, checking safety chains and lights, and keeping tongue weight within specified limits. The owner guidance is at Tesla Service.

What can the Cybertruck power?

Tesla says Premium AWD and Cyberbeast can provide up to 9.6 kW through cabin and bed outlets. That vehicle-power capability is distinct from whole-home backup: Tesla specifies compatible equipment—a Powershare Gateway and Universal Wall Connector or a Powerwall with Wall Connector—for home backup. The truck alone should not be assumed to be a ready-to-use home backup system. See Tesla’s product information for the stated equipment and power features.

Is the Cybertruck worth it?

The answer depends on whether its particular strengths justify its price and compromises for your use. The standout proposition is unusual styling paired with rapid acceleration, electric-pickup towing capability, and vehicle-power features. Car and Driver’s review adds that the truck felt unexpectedly maneuverable for its size, while its range test and cabin observations show why the manufacturer’s headline specifications do not tell the whole ownership story.

This assessment synthesizes published specifications and the cited review; it is not the result of an original road test.

What should a buyer check before ordering?

  1. Verify the live price. Select the intended trim and options in Tesla’s U.S. configurator; check current offers and identify fees, taxes, and any incentive or lease assumptions.
  2. Match the truck to the work. Confirm the specific trim and wheel setup’s towing rating, then account for passengers, cargo, tongue weight, and GVWR. Do not plan towing range from Tesla’s unladen estimate.
  3. Check open recalls by VIN. Recall campaigns apply to particular production groups and equipment. Use Tesla or NHTSA’s VIN lookup for the actual vehicle before purchase.
  4. Confirm the power setup you need. If home backup is important, check the required Powershare-compatible equipment and installation rather than assuming the truck by itself can power the home.

What recalls should buyers know about?

Recall applicability is vehicle-specific. The Associated Press reported on May 8, 2026 that 173 model-year 2024–2026 Cybertrucks with 18-inch steel wheels were recalled because rotor cracking could allow a wheel stud to separate. The reported remedy was replacement of specified rotors, hubs, and lug nuts at no charge. The report does not describe a recall affecting every Cybertruck. Read the Associated Press report.

Tesla also lists a cantrail replacement campaign for certain 2024 and 2025 vehicles made from November 13, 2023 through February 27, 2025, addressing possible panel delamination, and a separate front parking-lamp software campaign for defined vehicle and software cohorts. Details and applicability are on Tesla’s cantrail campaign page and front parking-lamp campaign page. Check the VIN rather than inferring recall status from model year alone.

Tesla’s product page claims a five-star overall NHTSA safety rating. Treat that as Tesla’s stated claim and verify the applicable vehicle record directly; an overall rating is not proof of safety in every crash scenario or road-user interaction.
