Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Short answer: the Stark Varg MX 1.2 is an exceptionally powerful electric motocross motorcycle, but “world’s fastest” is Stark Future’s marketing claim rather than an independently verified universal record. The useful question is whether its power, battery, charging and low-drivetrain-maintenance design fit your riding.
Is the Stark Varg really the world’s fastest electric dirtbike?
What Stark claims
Stark Future describes the Varg as the fastest motocross bike, now electric. For the current VARG MX 1.2, the company advertises up to 80 hp and says peak power is 30% higher than that of a 450 cc combustion motocross bike.
What has not been independently established
Those are manufacturer specifications, not a published universal record. Independent lap-time, dyno, braking, range and durability results confirming a “world’s fastest” ranking are not established. Track speed also depends on gearing, mapping, tires, suspension setup, rider and circuit, so peak horsepower alone cannot settle the comparison.
Power delivery: 80 hp without a clutch or gearbox
The VARG MX 1.2 lets the rider select power curves from 10 to 80 hp. Electric torque arrives without shifting or clutch work, and regenerative braking can be adjusted in the VARG/Arkenstone smartphone app. That gives the rider a wide tuning range: a softer map for learning or slippery ground, and the full output for maximum acceleration when traction allows.

A claimed 30% advantage over a 450 cc four-stroke is a peak-power comparison, not a promise of 30% quicker lap times. A 450 still has a familiar clutch, gearbox and engine-braking character; the Varg delivers power through a single-speed electric drivetrain. Riders should compare the complete package—traction, heat management, suspension, braking, rider preference and circuit—not just the headline number.
| Comparison point | Stark VARG MX 1.2 | 450 cc four-stroke reference |
|---|---|---|
| Peak output | Up to 80 hp, according to Stark | Stark says the Varg has 30% more peak power; no independent like-for-like test figure is supplied |
| Power adjustment | Selectable curves from 10–80 hp through the app | Normally adjusted through conventional engine, fuel and chassis tuning |
| Transmission | No clutch or gearbox | Clutch and multi-speed gearbox |
| Engine braking | Regenerative braking is adjustable | Combustion-engine braking varies with engine, mapping and clutch technique |
Battery range and charging
Two battery figures refer to different Varg pages
The original VARG specification lists a 6.5 kWh battery and up to six hours of technical trail riding. The current MX 1.2 is listed with a 7.2 kWh pack—a 20% capacity increase. Stark does not present that six-hour figure as a guaranteed MX 1.2 motocross runtime.
Actual range changes substantially with speed, terrain, rider weight, temperature, tire choice and how often the motor is operated at high output. Tight motocross laps and fast sand riding consume energy much faster than steady technical trail travel, so plan charging around your own route or session rather than treating “six hours” as a race-day promise.

- FITMENT: Electric dirt bike foot pegs fit for Stark Varg EX/ Stark Varg MX.
- WIDER PLATFORM FOR STABLE FOOTING: Oversized dirtbike pedals rests surface gives boots more contact area, assists riders feel solid - because the force-bearing area is larger and more stable.
- 6061 ALUMINUM: Dirt bike footpegs machined from 6061 aluminum, CNC-machined then anodized for even color that holds up to mud and sun. Dirt bike pedals rests have a clean look that lasts through regular use, despite being lighter, the aluminum construction gives the needed for off-road.
- HIGH TRACTION: The strategically positioned teeth bite into your boot soles, assist your feet planted through rough whoops or slippery corners. So you feel connected to the dirt bike in riding.
- NO MODIFICATION REQUIRED: These footpegs install uses existing mounting points—no drilling or modifications required.
How fast does it charge?
Stark quotes roughly one to two hours for a full charge, depending on the charger and outlet. Its earlier specification identifies a 3.3 kW charger, with about two hours at 240 V and 3.5 hours at 120 V. The outlet available at your riding location therefore matters: a household 120 V connection may not match the headline turnaround time.

A full recharge still requires access to suitable electrical service at the track, workshop or home; carrying a second battery is not presented as the solution in the supplied specifications.
MX 1.2 chassis, weight and suspension
Stark lists the VARG MX 1.2 at 118 kg. Its chromoly motocross frame is listed at 6.5 kg, and the company calls it the world’s lightest motocross frame. Claimed suspension travel is 310 mm at the front and 303 mm at the rear.

- FITMENT: Compatible with Stark Varg MX & EX Kickstand
- MATERIAL: Made of premium aluminum alloy, this product is designed to be both strong and lightweight. The silver sandblasted finish enhances its appearance and increases resistance to wear and corrosion, making it far superior to stock parts
- ADVANTAGE: Features a solid, one-piece design with a fixed length for maximum stability and reliability. Our upgraded aluminum version is engineered for superior strength, drastically reducing the risk of cracks or damage even under rigorous use
- MORE STABLE: The kickstand features an enlarged footplate design at the bottom, significantly increasing surface contact with the ground. This helps prevent the stand from sinking into soft surfaces such as sand, grass, or loose soil when parked
- INSTALLATION: Comes with a installation instruction to help you complete setup quickly
The bike is supplied with three stock suspension settings. Those presets are a starting point, not a substitute for setting sag, spring rates and damping to the rider, track and conditions. The 118 kg figure should also be interpreted as Stark’s listed model weight; race-ready equipment, mud and any personal setup can change what you lift at the track.
What ownership is like
Less engine service, but not zero maintenance
With no combustion engine, clutch or gearbox, the Varg avoids the oil, filter, valve and clutch service associated with a four-stroke motocross bike. Stark positions its maintenance workload as closer to bicycle servicing. The chassis still needs normal attention to components such as the chain or final drive, brakes, bearings, wheels, tires and suspension, while high-voltage electrical work should follow Stark’s service procedures.

1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsSoftware is part of the motorcycle
Power curves, regenerative braking and other settings are managed through the Arkenstone/VARG smartphone app, and Stark supports over-the-air software updates. That adds useful adjustability without mechanical changes, but it also makes phone compatibility, app access and software support part of ownership in a way a conventional 450 does not require.

Noise and where you can ride
An electric drivetrain removes combustion exhaust noise, which can make sound-sensitive riding areas more accessible. It does not override land-use, track, competition or local vehicle rules: confirm that an electric motocross motorcycle is allowed before traveling.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Warranty, dealers, parts and support
Stark advertises a two-year warranty, 24/7 support, authorized dealers and regional spare-parts warehouses. That network is important for an electric motorcycle because availability of proprietary electronics, battery components and bodywork can matter more than routine consumables. Ask a dealer about local inventory, shipping times and who performs warranty diagnosis before buying.
Stark’s own ownership-cost comparison uses global-average fuel and electricity prices and assumes manufacturer-scheduled maintenance through authorized dealers. Treat it as a manufacturer scenario, not an independent total-cost study. Battery-retention, lifecycle and long-term cost projections should likewise be regarded as claims until supported by independently collected, long-term data.

Is the Varg better than a 450?
Choose the VARG MX 1.2 if adjustable instant power, no shifting, reduced combustion-engine servicing and access to charging matter more than conventional race support and quick refueling. Its 7.2 kWh battery and app-based setup can work well for riders who can charge between sessions and value quiet operation.
A 450 remains the safer fit for riders who need established fuel logistics, familiar clutch technique, a large and mature combustion-bike service ecosystem, or races and facilities with limited electrical access. The Varg’s advantages are not universal: charging time, software dependence, local dealer coverage and the still-unverified performance claims all belong in the purchase decision.
