Solaris unveiled its Urbino 40 electric battery-powered city bus at APTA TRANSform & EXPO in Chicago on October 5, 2026, marking the model’s U.S. debut. The company had announced the planned reveal on September 28, then confirmed on October 6 that it unveiled the bus at 3 p.m. on October 5 at APTA TRANSform & EXPO in Chicago. Solaris describes it as developed for the North American market and intended for intensive urban operations as a zero-emission vehicle.
The bus is aimed at transit agencies, not private buyers. Solaris says it is built on a dedicated platform for North American requirements. The announcement establishes the vehicle’s intended market and launch, but does not provide enough information to assess its operating performance in service.
Urbino 40 electric specifications reported so far

In a September 28, 2026 release, Solaris reported that almost 30,000 of its vehicles had been delivered and were operating in 850 towns and cities across 33 countries. Those are company-reported figures, rather than independently verified market statistics.
