It is a secondary estimate, not an audited or independently confirmed figure. His racing success and the reported £50 million sale of his Formula 1 team to Ford are relevant context, but neither establishes his present personal fortune.
What is Sir Jackie Stewart’s estimated net worth?
Celebrity Net Worth lists Stewart’s net worth as $50 million. The figure is an estimate: the page does not explain its methodology or provide financial records that would verify it. No precise, independently verified current net-worth figure is established by the sources available.

Net worth is the value of a person’s assets minus liabilities at a particular time. A published estimate is not the same as disclosed income, a business’s sale price, or the value of a career. Stewart’s private holdings, liabilities, tax position and the current value of any assets are not established here.
Does the Ford sale mean Stewart was worth £50 million?
No. The Guardian reported in 2001 that Stewart sold Stewart Grand Prix to Ford for £50 million. Formula 1 says Ford bought the team, which was rebranded Jaguar. The £50 million is a historical reported transaction price for the team—not a disclosed payment to Stewart personally, his net proceeds after costs, or a measure of his wealth today.

The distinction matters because a sale price can relate to a whole business and does not show how proceeds were distributed or what a seller later earned, spent, invested or owed. The reported price should not be converted into a present-day personal net-worth claim.

Championship success
Formula 1 records Stewart’s 27 Grand Prix victories and three Drivers’ Championships, won in 1969, 1971 and 1973. Rolex’s profile records 27 wins in 99 Grand Prix starts and 43 podium finishes. These statistics document his sporting achievements; they do not disclose his earnings or establish a current net-worth figure.

Commercial and media work
Formula 1’s Hall of Fame biography describes Stewart as having become a multi-millionaire before retiring from racing, citing work that included commercials, advertising, speeches, promotional tours and media. It also characterizes him as a pioneer in Formula 1’s commercial development. The FIA likewise describes a transition to a multifaceted business career. These are biographical accounts, not a complete income history or present-day valuation.
Stewart also maintained prominent commercial relationships. Rolex says he joined its Testimonee family in 1968, and the FIA mentions long-term relationships including Rolex and Moët & Chandon. The sources do not state contract values or endorsement compensation, so those associations cannot be used to calculate his wealth.
Stewart Grand Prix
Stewart founded Stewart Grand Prix with his son Paul. Formula 1’s oral history describes it as a factory team backed by Ford; the team won the 1999 European Grand Prix with Johnny Herbert. In the same oral history, Stewart said it would cost around £350,000 to make the retained Stewart SF3 runnable. That was his estimate for preparing one car, not the team’s value or his personal assets.
