The Sharrow AX is a loop-blade aluminum propeller for 6–30 HP outboards, with Sharrow listing it at $795–$995. The “50%” headline is a comparison between the AX’s $795 starting price and the larger MX-A’s $1,595-plus starting price—not a discount on the same propeller. The two models target different engine classes.
What the Sharrow AX is—and who it is for
Sharrow Marine announced the AX on September 30, 2025, as its small-outboard version of the company’s loop-blade propeller design. The company lists it for 6–30 HP outboards and describes uses such as small-engine boating, kicker motors, tenders and aluminum fishing boats. It is made of aluminum. Sharrow’s AX product page has current application and order information.
The AX is intended for an individual small outboard, but the horsepower range alone does not confirm fitment. A propeller must match the specific engine and boat setup.
Why the headline says the price is down 50%
New Atlas reported the AX launch price as $795–$995 on October 2, 2025, and compared its $795 entry price with the MX-A’s $1,595-plus starting price. That makes the AX’s starting figure about half the MX-A’s starting figure. It does not mean Sharrow cut the price of an unchanged model by 50%; the AX and MX-A are separate product lines for different horsepower ranges. New Atlas’s launch coverage describes that comparison.

As listed by Sharrow on October 8, 2026, the AX costs $795–$995, while the MX-A costs $1,595–$2,495. Both are USD prices, and Sharrow says shipping and tax are calculated at checkout. The final price depends on the selection and should be checked on the product pages before ordering.

Will the Sharrow AX fit your outboard?
Do not choose the AX on horsepower alone. Sharrow says it collects boat, engine, existing-propeller and operating details, then confirms specifications after an order. Its prop finder includes the option “Replace my current propeller” and asks for the engine manufacturer and horsepower per engine, with current-prop and boat details as optional information.
- Use Sharrow’s prop finder and select “Replace my current propeller” if that describes your setup.
- Provide the engine manufacturer and horsepower per engine, plus the current propeller and boat information requested or available.
- Confirm the exact motor and setup with Sharrow before buying. A listed horsepower range is not a fitment guarantee.
What is known about performance?
Sharrow has claimed up to 30% greater fuel efficiency and up to 80% noise reduction compared with traditional propeller designs. Those are manufacturer claims, not independently established AX-specific results in the available sources. New Atlas has reported that results vary, with some reviews finding efficiency improvements closer to 10%; those reports should not be treated as a guaranteed outcome for a particular boat or motor. In that announcement, Sharrow founder and CEO Greg Sharrow said the AX offers “smoother handling, quieter operation and unmatched fuel efficiency.” That is the company’s description, not a guarantee of results across all boats and operating conditions.

Sharrow’s AX page currently estimates shipping in six to eight weeks. This is an estimate, not a guaranteed delivery date; check the listing and order terms when purchasing. The MX-A page lists a four-to-six-week estimate. The AX announcement gave the same six-to-eight-week estimate at launch.
