Sazgar’s board appointed Mian Asad Hameed CEO and Saira Asad Hameed chairperson in a restructuring announced in March 2026. Business Recorder reported that the appointments were for three-year terms. The board also named Saeed Iqbal Khan COO for the three-wheeler and automotive-parts division, and Mian Muhammad Ali Hameed COO for the car division. The appointments and factory expansion were board decisions disclosed to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, according to Business Recorder.
What is included in Sazgar’s PKR 22 billion expansion?
Sazgar’s FY2026 annual report puts the estimated budget for the new expansion at PKR 22.00 billion, excluding land. The plan covers a brand-new fully automatic complete paint shop, civil work and ancillary equipment. The company says the project would increase installed four-wheeler production and assembly capacity to 54,000 units annually on a single-shift basis once completed. This is planned capacity, not current production or a guarantee of how many vehicles will be made or sold.

The new project should be distinguished from Sazgar’s earlier PKR 11.50 billion four-wheeler expansion. In its FY2026 annual report, the company said it had spent PKR 6.50 billion on a new assembly line, a 5.7-megawatt solar system and warehousing facilities; those works were completed except for the paint shop. The earlier plan’s PKR 5.00 billion paint-shop cost was folded into the newer paint-shop expansion, so the two budgets should not be added together as if they covered entirely separate work. When is the expanded facility expected to operate?
In September 2026 corporate-briefing coverage, Nukta reported that management expected the expanded facility to become operational within nine to ten months. The report said management put current capacity at roughly 100 vehicles a day and projected that it could rise to about 180 a day after expansion. What has Sazgar completed, and what remains uncertain?
Earlier expansion work and trial rollouts
Sazgar’s FY2026 annual report says the assembly line, solar installation and warehousing under the earlier expansion had been completed, while the paint shop remained outstanding and was incorporated into the new project. The report also says the first CKD TANK-500 Hi4-T 4×4 2.0L Turbo AT PHEV and HEV models rolled out for trial operation from March 31, 2026. Financing and vehicle mix
The annual report gives the new expansion’s estimated budget but does not establish a financing mix or confirm what share of the new capacity each model will use. Sazgar also approved a PKR 4 billion budget for approximately 900 kanals near its car plant for future expansion. Separately, the company purchased two commercial plots at Pine Avenue and Lahore’s Central Business District for showrooms, after-sales facilities and offices; those purchases are not the paint-shop project. How does the expansion fit Sazgar’s business?
Sazgar is a listed Pakistani automaker whose business includes automobiles and automotive parts. Its FY2026 annual report describes its partnership with GWM. Nukta reported FY2026 revenue of about PKR 191.7 billion and profit after tax of PKR 23.6 billion, citing company financial disclosures. It said management attributed growth to higher sales of GWM-Haval and GWM Tank 500 vehicles.
