Royal Enfield has shown a pre-production Himalayan 750 at its first Himalayan Base Camp event in Ladakh. The motorcycle looked close to the final model in India Today’s account, but it was not production-ready: its specifications, equipment, variants, price and launch timing were still unconfirmed.
What Royal Enfield showed in Ladakh
India Today reported on 7 September 2026 that the upcoming Himalayan 750 was displayed at Royal Enfield’s first Himalayan Base Camp event in Ladakh. The report places it above the Himalayan 450 in the brand’s adventure range. This was a pre-production display, not a production launch, customer delivery or confirmed final-spec reveal. India Today’s event and prototype report is the source for the observations below.
How the prototype differs visually from the Himalayan 450
The display bike looked larger and more touring-oriented than the Himalayan 450. India Today noted a bigger front fairing, taller windscreen and larger tank extensions. Those visible design cues suggest a stronger emphasis on wind protection and longer-distance riding, but they do not establish the motorcycle’s final dimensions or touring capability.
Wheels and tyres: what was on the display bike
The Ladakh motorcycle was reported to have 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels, fitted with Vredestein Centauro dual-purpose tyres. India Today also referred to test bikes with cross-spoke wheels. That could point to different variants, but Royal Enfield had not confirmed a variant plan, so it is not yet clear which wheel options—if any—will reach production.

Engine and chassis details remain provisional
India Today said the Himalayan 750 is expected to use a new 750cc parallel-twin based on the architecture of Royal Enfield’s existing 650cc twin, with revised internals and tuning. The report did not provide an official engine specification. Its estimates of roughly 50–55 bhp and 60–65 Nm are expectations, not confirmed output figures.
The same account described a six-speed gearbox, two-into-one exhaust and dedicated frame and swingarm. It reported inverted front forks with compression and preload adjustment, remote rear preload adjustment, twin front brake discs and a single rear disc. The bike is also expected to use a rear monoshock—the first such setup on a Royal Enfield twin-cylinder motorcycle, according to the report. Treat all of these as reported pre-production details rather than a final specification.

Electronics and equipment seen or inferred
The display motorcycle reportedly carried a TFT cluster, cruise-control controls, a TPMS indication and adjustable suspension. India Today interpreted the switchgear as suggesting possible ride modes and switchable traction control. These observations do not confirm that every feature will appear on the production model.
The report said cruise control and TPMS would be firsts for Royal Enfield factory equipment if they make it to production. That remains conditional; the manufacturer had not published a final equipment list.

When could the Himalayan 750 launch?
In its 7 September 2026 report, India Today expected a production-spec global reveal at EICMA in November 2026 and forecast an India launch in the first quarter of 2027. These were the report’s predictions, not dates confirmed by Royal Enfield. The report also said the exact engine output, equipment list, variants and price were still pending.

Should you buy a Himalayan 450 or wait?
If you need a motorcycle now, the current Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is the available comparison—not the pre-production 750 shown in Ladakh. If you are considering waiting, the 750 may be worth watching if its larger, more touring-oriented design suits your plans. But without confirmed price, production equipment, engine figures or sale timing, there is not enough verified information for a like-for-like buying comparison.
Once Royal Enfield publishes production specifications, compare the bikes on confirmed retail availability and price, engine output and weight, wheel and tyre configuration, and the suspension and electronic equipment actually offered. The Ladakh display does not settle those questions.
