The 2026 Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 Apex is a sharper-handling, road-focused version of the Guerrilla 450—not a more powerful one. It keeps the range’s liquid-cooled 452cc single, rated at 40.02PS and 40Nm, while adding a lower, farther-forward handlebar, Vredestein road tyres and sportier cowl styling. Independent ride impressions describe strong tyre grip and mid-range pull, alongside some steering weight, handlebar buzz at higher revs and a firm rear response over sharp bumps. Autocar India recorded 25.23kpl in city riding and 32.82kpl on its highway route; those are that publication’s test results, not guaranteed owner mileage.
What changed on the 2026 Apex?
The Apex package changes the rider’s position, tyres and appearance. It does not raise engine output. Royal Enfield’s 2026 Guerrilla 450 specifications list the Apex with an aluminium handlebar positioned 56mm lower and 57mm farther forward than the standard Guerrilla. The road-focused Vredestein Centauro ST+ tyres measure 120/70 R17 at the front and 160/60 R17 at the rear.

Styling additions include a sportier front cowl and a removable rear seat cowl. The combination is intended to give the bike a more forward, sporty feel and road-oriented character without changing its core engine specification.

The CEAT grip claims apply to the Dash and Flash tyres, not the Apex’s Vredesteins. For the Apex, tyre replacement or fitment should be checked against the specific model year and variant.

What engine performance does the Apex offer?
The Apex uses the Guerrilla’s liquid-cooled 452cc Sherpa single. Royal Enfield rates it at 40.02PS at 8,000rpm and 40Nm at 5,500rpm. Those manufacturer figures are shared across the range; the Apex is not an engine-output upgrade.
On Autocar India’s fuel-test route, the engine was strongest in the low and middle rev ranges. The publication said it felt sluggish at lower revs and advised keeping it above 3,000rpm for smoother response. On its legal-limit highway stretch, it reported cruising at 75–80kph at around 4,000rpm. These are observations from that test, not guaranteed performance figures for every road or rider.

How do Street and Sport modes feel?
The 2026 Guerrilla range has Street and Sport modes, and retains the selected mode rather than requiring the rider to reselect it each time the motorcycle is used. Royal Enfield lists the update for the range, so it is not unique to Apex.
In BikeWale’s Assam first ride, Street mode delivered a more linear throttle response, while Sport felt stronger and more immediate. That is a reviewer’s riding impression, not a measured difference in power output.

What did the Apex feel like on the road?
BikeWale reviewer Anuj Mishra rode 140km on Assam roads for a first-ride review published on 31 March 2026. His comments are qualitative impressions from that route, not a controlled comparison or a universal prediction of how the motorcycle will feel.
- Grip and steering: Mishra praised the Vredesteins’ grip and feedback through tight bends and sweepers. He also found the bike less agile and less alert to steering inputs than he expected, relating that impression to its wide tyres and weight.
- Riding position: The more forward handlebar position felt more natural to him when cornering. He reported no comfort issue over two to three hours in the saddle.
- Engine and gearbox: He described the engine as eager in the mid-to-top range and the gearbox as slick, while noting a somewhat heavy clutch.
- Vibration and suspension: Handlebar buzz became perceptible above 6,000rpm. The rear suspension could kick over sharper bumps.
- Brakes: He found the braking feel confidence-inspiring; the review did not report an independently measured stopping distance.
These impressions help explain the Apex’s character: the tyres provided reassuring feedback, but the bike did not feel especially quick to change direction to this rider. The revised position is a meaningful part of its sporting intent, rather than evidence of a lighter or more agile chassis.

What mileage did Autocar India measure?
In its instrumented test of the Apex, published 21 September 2026, Autocar India recorded 25.23kpl in the city and 32.82kpl on the highway. It brimmed the tank, followed fixed routes at representative speeds with tyre pressures and payload controlled, then brimmed it again and calculated fuel use against distance. Both loops were a little over 40km; the highway loop was shortened by construction.

What did the Apex cost at launch in India?
Royal Enfield’s 27 March 2026 launch release listed Chennai ex-showroom prices of ₹2,49,194 for Apex Red and ₹2,56,387 for Apex Black and Apex Green. These are dated launch prices for Chennai, not current nationwide or on-road prices. The release said India bookings opened on 27 March 2026, with retail and test rides beginning on 31 March.
The manufacturer’s release also described the 2026 range’s Fairtex collaboration as including limited-edition gloves, Muay Thai shorts and a T-shirt; the release does not establish whether those items remain available.

What the available tests do—and do not—establish
The evidence supports a clear distinction: Royal Enfield’s figures describe rated output and specifications, BikeWale provides a 140km launch-ride account, and Autocar India provides measured fuel-economy results from its own routes. Neither cited test supplies an independently measured acceleration time, top speed, braking distance or dyno result for the Apex. Its performance is therefore best understood through the shared engine rating, the changed riding position and tyres, and the attributed road and mileage observations above.
