Revonte ONE is an integrated e-bike drive system, not just a motor: its drive unit combines electric assistance with a transmission that can change ratios continuously or shift through indexed steps. Revonte’s published descriptions explain how the system is intended to work, but they do not establish whether it, compatible bikes, or service support are currently available.
What is Revonte ONE?
Revonte’s 2019 product announcement described ONE as a package comprising a drive unit, controller, battery and app, with battery power developed in collaboration with BMZ. That integrated approach differs from treating the motor as a standalone component: the drive system is designed to work as a set of related hardware and controls.
Revonte’s 2021 explanation describes a transmission built into the drive unit. The company says a planetary gear set takes the place of the conventional front-and-rear-sprocket arrangement used for changing bicycle gears. These are the manufacturer’s descriptions, not findings from an independent teardown or comparative ride test.
How does its stepless transmission work?
In Revonte’s account, the planetary gear set has a ring gear that is free to rotate. The company says this arrangement allows the transmission to vary its ratio continuously, rather than limiting the rider to a fixed set of gear steps. Revonte also describes two electric motors in the drive unit: one for control of the transmission and one for assistance.

At the rear, the system is described as driving a simplified single-speed setup. Revonte presents both a chain and a belt as possible drive options; the single-speed rear arrangement is distinct from the transmission’s ability to vary the ratio inside the drive unit.
Can it shift automatically, or can the rider change gears?
Revonte material describes two ways to operate the gearing. Automatic stepless operation lets the system vary the ratio continuously, while indexed shifting gives the rider stepped gear changes. The available material does not establish that either mode is faster, more efficient or more reliable than the other.

Those figures alone do not establish real-world range, efficiency, durability, road-legal classification or present-day production status. For example, battery capacity is not a range estimate: actual distance depends on factors the published capacity figure does not specify.

Has a bicycle with Revonte ONE been shown?
Yes. In a 2023 announcement, Revonte described a Pässilä titanium eMTB prototype using ONE and specified maximum continuous assistance power of 250 W for that prototype. A prototype demonstrates an application of the system; it does not prove that a production bicycle is currently for sale.

Current retail availability, compatible bicycle models and service support are not established by the cited announcements. Revonte’s 2020 material discussed an early wave of bicycle-maker partners, and its 2023 announcement documented the Pässilä prototype, but neither confirms which complete bikes are currently sold or where owners can obtain parts and service. The system is presented as an OEM-integrated component, and the available information does not establish a direct consumer purchase route.

Before buying a used or advertised bicycle said to have Revonte ONE, ask the seller or manufacturer to confirm the exact model, system configuration, parts availability and service arrangements. Do not assume that a generic battery or controller is compatible without documentation for that specific bicycle and system.
