Punjab, Pakistan, has opened registration for its October 2026 online auction of preferred vehicle registration marks. Who can take part, and what is being auctioned?

The report says the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Punjab Excise Department are associated with the platform, and that users can register through the e-Auction portal or app without visiting an office. Successful bidder details are made available through the application. The report quotes PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf describing the platform as “seamless, secure, and transparent”; that is an official characterization, not an independently measured finding about security or performance.

How much does a premium registration mark cost?
There is no single premium-number fee. The published Punjab Excise policy sets reserve prices by mark and vehicle class. A reserve is the minimum threshold, not a guarantee of the final winning price. The highest bid is payable in addition to the prescribed vehicle-registration fee.

How to register and bid in the Punjab e-Auction
- Check the current round. Open the official Punjab e-Auction portal and confirm the available marks, vehicle class, and round instructions. Although the October round is reported open through October 31, check the portal for any changes.
- Submit applicant and vehicle details. The published policy calls for details including CNIC or NTN and the vehicle chassis number. Follow the application’s current requirements.
- Pay and deposit the required amount electronically. The policy specifies a non-refundable Rs 100 participation fee through e-pay, plus a deposit of the reserve price or average price, whichever is higher.
- Use one approved AIN for one mark. An approved Automated Identification Number (AIN) can contest one mark. A bidder seeking marks for multiple vehicles must register separately for each.
- Bid during the scheduled window. Under the published policy, bidding begins at 9:00 a.m. Pakistan Standard Time on the day after registration closes and runs through 8:59:59 p.m. on the second day. Check the live round schedule, since the specific October schedule dates are not stated in the schedule index text.
- Track the result on the platform. The policy says results are system-generated and published on the e-Auction website.
Bid timing, increments and extensions
The published policy sets bid increments of Rs 500 for four-wheelers and Rs 200 for other vehicles. It also provides a one-minute extension when a mark’s highest bid arrives in the final 15 minutes; the extension continues while that high bid is challenged within the extension period. Check the current portal instructions for how the rule is applied in the active round.

What happens after a successful bid?
A winning bid does not itself authorize display of the registration mark. The policy requires the vehicle to be properly registered first and says successful bidders must register it within 15 days of the result announcement. A further 30 days may be allowed only for compelling circumstances. The allocated mark cannot be transferred to another vehicle unless that vehicle is owned by the AIN holder.
The policy also provides for forfeiture of the deposited reserve or security in specified non-payment situations, and reserves the department’s right to cancel an auction or allocation. Read the operative portal instructions and policy before bidding; paying the auction amount does not remove these conditions.

- Confirm the mark is available in the live round and eligible for your vehicle class.
- Compare the applicable reserve price, not as the final price but as the starting threshold for bidding.
- Budget for the winning bid as well as the separate prescribed vehicle-registration fee.
- Allow for the policy’s registration deadline after the result before expecting to display the mark.
