The headline “Protesters Storm Tesla Dealership” refers to a March 8, 2025 demonstration at a Tesla showroom in Manhattan’s West Village. Some protesters entered the building, and the roughly two-hour protest disrupted the showroom’s operation, according to Futurism.
What happened at the Tesla showroom?
Hundreds gathered outside the West Village showroom on Saturday, March 8, according to Futurism. Some entered the building, and the demonstration effectively shut the location down for about two hours. Protesters chanted, “Nobody voted for Elon Musk” and “Oligarchs out, democracy in.” The report does not identify an individual speaker behind those chants.
TheWrap reported that the New York Police Department arrived and began making arrests. It said six people were arrested after occupying the showroom, citing the Planet Over Profit account for its estimate of the crowd. TheWrap’s March 8 report does not establish a charge breakdown.
How many people were arrested?
Published accounts do not establish one definitive arrest total for the March 8 West Village incident. TheWrap reported six arrests in connection with the showroom occupation. A later Associated Press report said police took nine people into custody at a New York City Tesla dealership during a Saturday demonstration, but it does not establish that this was the same March 8 event. Those figures should not be combined or treated as a confirmed total for the West Village protest. The Associated Press report also described about 300 demonstrators at the New York dealership; that estimate likewise is not confirmed as a count for the March 8 gathering.

Why were people protesting Tesla?
The March 8 demonstration was part of the broader Tesla Takedown protest wave directed at Elon Musk. The Associated Press described the movement as criticizing Musk’s role in the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency and federal workforce cuts.

Later protests provide context for the movement, not additional details about the Manhattan event. The Guardian reported that organizers of demonstrations on March 29 sought to discourage Tesla purchases and encourage stock sales, with protests at roughly 200 showrooms around the world. That figure refers to the later, worldwide protest wave—not attendance at the West Village showroom. The Guardian’s March 29 account covers those demonstrations.

No. A separate incident took place in Paris in October 2025 during demonstrations against austerity measures and rising prices. Report.az said about 150 people gathered near Gare de Lyon and about two dozen entered a Tesla showroom. That event had a different date, location and reported context from the March 8 protest in Manhattan. Report.az’s Paris report describes the later incident.
