Porsche says it was a 1:1 hard model based on the Boxster, with an eight-cylinder engine mounted at the rear. Its official descriptions do not confirm 750 horsepower or specify the engine’s configuration or displacement.
What was the Porsche Le Mans Living Legend?
Porsche presented the Le Mans Living Legend among its previously unseen design studies. The company described it as an extreme road-sports-car concept based on the Boxster and showed it as a full-size hard model. That means it was a design object, not evidence of a production car customers could order.
The name and styling point to the Porsche 550 racing coupé that competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1953. The Living Legend is a later concept inspired by that racer, not the 1953 car itself. Porsche Newsroom’s account of the design study and the company’s Christophorus feature on dream cars identify its origins and status.
Did it really have 750 horsepower?
The 750-hp figure appears in the title of a 2023 video about the concept, but it is not substantiated by the official Porsche descriptions cited here. Porsche confirms an eight-cylinder engine at the rear, without stating its horsepower, configuration, or displacement. Its description says: “At the rear is an eight-cylinder engine with excessive sound development.” That supports the cylinder count and Porsche’s emphasis on sound—not a verified output figure.
