For the 2027 U.S. lineup, the Porsche 911 Carrera T and rear-wheel-drive Carrera GTS suit different priorities: the T pairs a manual transmission with a lighter, driver-focused touring brief, while the GTS adds a performance-oriented hybrid powertrain and more standard chassis hardware. Porsche lists the T at $148,000 and the GTS at $181,000 before options and fees. The GTS is substantially quicker on Porsche’s published figures; the T’s defining choice is the manual. These are manufacturer specifications, not results from a direct road test.
At a glance: 2027 U.S. Carrera T vs. rear-drive Carrera GTS
This comparison is between the rear-wheel-drive Carrera T and rear-wheel-drive Carrera GTS. Porsche also lists 4 GTS variants; those add all-wheel drive and are not the same configuration as the rear-drive GTS discussed here. Figures below reflect Porsche’s U.S. model listings as displayed on October 8, 2026, unless otherwise noted.
| Specification | 2027 Carrera T | 2027 rear-drive Carrera GTS |
|---|---|---|
| Starting MSRP | $148,000 | $181,000 |
| Transmission | Manual; the current U.S. page does not state the gear count | Eight-speed PDK, per Porsche’s 992.2 GTS technical specification |
| Drive | Rear-wheel drive | Rear-wheel drive |
| Engine and output | 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six; 388 hp | 3.6-liter flat-six with T-Hybrid; 532 hp combined system output |
| 0–60 mph | 4.3 seconds | 2.9 seconds with Sport Chrono Package |
| Top track speed | 183 mph with summer tires | 194 mph with summer tires |
| Chassis highlights | Manual-focused touring character; 20-/21-inch Carrera S wheels listed as standard | PASM Sport Suspension lowered 10 mm and rear-axle steering listed as standard |
All performance figures are Porsche claims. The $33,000 difference is the listed starting-MSRP gap, not a guaranteed difference between dealer offers or similarly optioned cars. Porsche’s Carrera T page and Carrera GTS page provide the current U.S. listings.
What is the real difference in character?
The Carrera T: manual involvement and a touring brief
Porsche describes the T as combining the standard Carrera engine with sporty chassis tuning, lightweight materials and a manual gearbox. The current U.S. page identifies it as a manual model. That makes the T the clear choice for a buyer who specifically wants to operate a clutch and select gears, rather than leave shifts to an automatic transmission.

Porsche’s 2025 model-year release specifies a six-speed manual as the sole transmission for that release, along with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six rated at 388 hp and 331 lb-ft. The current 2027 listing confirms the manual but does not establish a gear count here, so the 2025 six-speed detail should not be assumed to describe every later model year. See Porsche’s 2025 Carrera T release.
The Carrera GTS: faster, hybrid-assisted performance
The GTS’s 532 hp is combined system output, not the flat-six’s standalone rating. Porsche gives the engine alone 478 hp and 420 lb-ft, and the complete system 532 hp and 449 lb-ft. Its T-Hybrid setup combines a newly developed 3.6-liter boxer engine, an electrically driven turbocharger, an electric motor integrated into the strengthened eight-speed PDK, and a compact 400-volt battery.

Porsche says the turbocharger motor can generate electricity from exhaust flow, while the transmission motor supplements the engine at low engine speed. The company calls this its first road-legal 911 model with a lightweight, performance-focused hybrid powertrain. The cited specifications describe an integrated performance system, not plug-in charging. Details are in Porsche’s 2025 911 launch release.
How much quicker is the GTS on paper?
Porsche lists 0–60 mph in 4.3 seconds for the 2027 Carrera T and 2.9 seconds for the GTS with the Sport Chrono Package. That is a 1.4-second difference between the published figures, with the Sport Chrono condition applying to the GTS number. Porsche lists top track speed at 183 mph for the T and 194 mph for the GTS, both with summer tires.

The GTS’s headline output is 144 hp higher, but the comparison needs one qualification: its 532 hp figure is total hybrid-system output, whereas the T’s listed 388 hp is its engine output. Porsche’s figures establish a substantial paper performance advantage for the GTS; they do not establish how the two cars compare in ride, handling, sound or everyday comfort. No directly comparative independent test is represented here.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What chassis equipment does the GTS add?
Porsche lists PASM Sport Suspension, lowered by 10 mm, and rear-axle steering as standard GTS equipment, along with rear helper springs. Porsche says rear-axle steering is intended to aid maneuverability at low speeds and stability at higher speeds. These are documented equipment and manufacturer-described functions, not proof that the GTS feels better in every driving situation.

The T’s published emphasis is instead its manual, lightweight construction and touring-oriented setup. Porsche lists 20-/21-inch Carrera S wheels as standard on the current T page. Equipment can vary by market and body configuration, so check the relevant U.S. configurator for the exact car being considered. Porsche’s 992.2 GTS technical specifications list an eight-speed PDK across the GTS variants covered there.
Does the T weigh less than the GTS?
The available figures do not establish a directly comparable current curb-weight difference between the T and GTS on the same configuration basis. Porsche reported that the 2025 GTS Coupe’s U.S. curb weight was 103 lb higher than its predecessor; that is a year-over-year comparison, not a T-versus-GTS weight gap. It should not be used to claim how much lighter one current model is than the other.

Porsche’s U.S. pages displayed starting MSRPs of $148,000 for the 2027 Carrera T and $181,000 for the 2027 Carrera GTS when accessed on October 8, 2026. That makes the GTS $33,000 higher at the listed starting point. Porsche says the prices exclude options, taxes, title, registration, delivery/processing/handling, dealer charges and possible tariffs; the dealer sets the actual selling price. Options and negotiated prices can change the difference between two specific cars.
Which 911 should you choose?
- Choose the Carrera T if: a manual transmission is central to what you want from a 911, and Porsche’s touring-focused, lightweight positioning appeals more than maximum acceleration and output.
- Choose the rear-drive Carrera GTS if: you want the stronger published performance figures, the T-Hybrid powertrain, PDK operation and standard chassis hardware such as rear-axle steering and lowered PASM Sport Suspension.
- Compare a 4 GTS separately: it is an all-wheel-drive variant, so it is not an apples-to-apples match for the rear-drive T or rear-drive GTS.
On specifications alone, the GTS is the performance step-up; the T is the manual-first alternative with a lower listed starting price. Whether the T’s involvement or the GTS’s pace and equipment matters more is a preference call, not something manufacturer figures can settle.
