The Peugeot E-208 GTi and Kia EV4 GT bring performance-focused electric powertrains to two very different kinds of car. Peugeot’s UK-market hatch is priced at £34,995 before the grant cited in its August 2026 announcement; Kia’s Korea-market EV4 GT has a much larger, more powerful all-wheel-drive package, but the evidence here does not establish a comparable UK price or availability. Neither car can yet be called a return to affordable hot hatches on the basis of price alone.
Are the Peugeot E-208 GTi and Kia EV4 GT affordable hot hatches?
They revive some of the hot-hatch idea—compact performance, distinctive chassis hardware and a driver-focused specification—but “affordable” needs a price comparison that is not available for both cars in the same market. Peugeot UK listed the E-208 GTi at £34,995 on-the-road in August 2026. The same announcement said the then-stated £1,500 UK Electric Car Grant would bring it to £33,495 for eligible buyers. Kia’s September 2026 brochure covers the EV4 GT in Korea, while Kia Canada’s official result announced pricing for a 2027 model without exposing the amount in the page text available. The sources do not establish a UK EV4 GT price or launch date. A like-for-like affordability verdict would therefore be premature.

There is also a class distinction: Peugeot describes its E-208 GTi as a B-segment hatch, while the Korea-market EV4 GT is 4,730 mm long with a 2,820 mm wheelbase. These are not direct size-class rivals. Kia Korea EV4 GT brochure

What performance does the Peugeot E-208 GTi offer?
Peugeot UK describes the E-208 GTi as the brand’s first fully electric GTi, developed with Peugeot Sport. Its published figures are 281 PS, 345 Nm and 0–62 mph in 5.5 seconds, with top speed limited to 112 mph. The battery is 54 kWh gross, with 51 kWh usable capacity. Range and charging depend on the setup
Peugeot quotes up to 233 miles of combined WLTP range with the no-cost Hankook Ventus S1 Evo3 tyre option, or up to 219 miles with the standard Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres. Peugeot’s specification lists a 20–80% DC charge time of 27 minutes at up to 100 kW, and approximately 4 hours 40 minutes on a 7.4 kW AC wallbox. Its listed mixed consumption is 3.6–3.9 miles/kWh. Charging times and consumption depend on conditions and equipment; the figures describe Peugeot’s published specification rather than a measured drive.
Chassis hardware is part of the proposition
The E-208 GTi specification includes a mechanical limited-slip differential in the reduction gear, 18-inch wheels and standard Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres. Peugeot’s launch material also describes a body lowered by 25 mm and wider tracks—by 56 mm at the front and 28 mm at the rear. These details distinguish the GTi from a simple power increase, but they do not establish how it handles on the road; no independent assessment is available here.

What are the Kia EV4 GT’s power and range?
Kia’s English-language Korea-market brochure, dated September 1, 2026, specifies the EV4 GT with dual-motor all-wheel drive, 468 kW maximum power, 440 Nm maximum torque and an 81.4 kWh battery. Its combined range is listed as 425 km, alongside combined government-reported energy efficiency of 4.5 km/kWh. These are Korea-market brochure figures; Kia warns that standardized figures can vary in real conditions and specifications may change. They should not be directly ranked against Peugeot’s UK WLTP miles because the market and stated test basis differ.
The same brochure lists dimensions of 4,730 mm long, 1,860 mm wide and 1,490 mm high, with a 2,820 mm wheelbase. It describes 20-inch performance summer tyres and a substantial performance feature set:

What the comparison can—and cannot—tell you
The Peugeot’s published package is a smaller UK hatch with a mechanical differential, a tyre-dependent WLTP range and an announced UK price. Kia’s brochure describes a substantially larger Korea-market EV with higher stated output, all-wheel drive and electronic chassis features. That makes the EV4 GT look like a different performance proposition, not simply a more powerful version of the same kind of hot hatch.

The manufacturer materials establish specifications and claimed features; they do not supply independent acceleration, braking, ride, efficiency or real-world range tests.
