How to check current Perth fuel prices
Use the WA Government’s FuelWatch guidance to find the service’s mobile-compatible interactive map and current local listings. The guidance says today’s and tomorrow’s prices are available after 2.30pm each day. Check the listing close to when you plan to refuel, since a price in an old news report cannot tell you what a station charges now.
When comparing options, consider both the listed price and whether the station is conveniently located on your route. Check for access conditions, such as membership requirements, before making a special trip.

What the reported tank saving meant
In the 2 April 2024 story, a Consumer Protection spokesperson was reported as saying motorists could potentially save $35 on a 60-litre tank by finding the lowest nearby prices. That was a potential saving attributed to the spokesperson, not a guaranteed discount or a current estimate. The same report’s figure of 30 stations below 179 cpl likewise belongs to its historical snapshot.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Should you stockpile fuel?
No. The WA Government advises motorists to buy only the fuel they need and not to stockpile. For an ordinary fill-up decision, use current FuelWatch prices and choose an accessible station rather than treating a past alert as a reason to buy extra fuel.
