When is the Perth Burswood street race?
Supercars’ latest reviewed update targets a 2028 debut. The 2026 date came from the original June 2024 announcement and is no longer the current target. The update does not confirm an exact 2028 date, ticket on-sale timing, or whether the event will open the Supercars season. Supercars’ February 2026 update describes the debut as a target, not a finalized race-weekend announcement.
The Perth Park FAQ describes a potential annual Friday-to-Sunday event, likely in February, but that is an anticipated format rather than a confirmed schedule. The FAQ also says no night-racing facilities were included in the precinct design. Perth Park’s FAQ
Where would the race take place?
The proposed venue is Perth Park, a planned multi-use precinct on the Burswood Peninsula between Crown Perth and Optus Stadium. The government describes the site as approximately 28 hectares, connected to Perth and surrounding areas by public transport, pedestrian and cycle networks. What is planned for the street circuit?
Town of Victoria Park council minutes dated March 23, 2026 describe a planned circuit of approximately 3.4 kilometres, with 12 turns and a main straight anticipated to support speeds up to 230 kilometres per hour. These are design characteristics, not measured specifications from an operating track.
- Planned route: Camfield Drive, Victoria Park Drive and realigned Roger MacKay Drive.
- Planned standard: The inner track and surrounding roads are to be constructed or upgraded to FIA Grade 3 standards.
- Event format: An annual three-day motorsport event.
The details are set out in the Town of Victoria Park council minutes; the route and specifications remain plans, not as-built facts.

Perth Park is more than a race venue
The proposed track is part of a multi-use sporting and entertainment precinct, rather than a facility dedicated only to motor racing. Planned uses include cycling, community sport, music, functions and other events. Council minutes describe a 12,000-capacity outdoor amphitheatre; the government says the park is intended for public and community use through the year, with access restricted during some events. The government FAQ gives late 2027 as the expected date for practical completion, while Supercars reported site-establishment work commencing in February 2026. Both are future project milestones, not confirmation that the circuit or event is ready.
The council minutes cite a $217.5 million budget for the broader Perth Park project; that figure is not the cost of the race alone. The Perth Park FAQ, citing economics firm ACIL Allen, estimates more than $60 million in annual benefits to the Western Australian State Economy from major and mass-participation events enabled by the track. The FAQ does not specify the estimate’s year, and it is not a race-only impact estimate.

Is there a Burswood race in Perth in 2026?
No Burswood debut in 2026 is established by the current target: Supercars now points to 2028. Perth does have an existing Supercars round in 2026, but it is the Bosch Power Tools Perth Super 440 at Wanneroo Raceway, scheduled for July 31 to August 2. The original 2024 announcement floated approximately 50,000 local and interstate fans per day and a 10-day Perth and Kwinana festival. Those were early proposals, not a current attendance forecast or the format described in later council material. The 2024 announcement also quoted Western Australian Premier Roger Cook calling Burswood Park “the perfect place for a uniquely WA V8 event.” That statement reflects the original announcement and its then-current plan. What should visitors know about transport and access?
Final transport operations for the race have not been confirmed in the reviewed current sources. Council minutes say Perth Stadium Bus Station would be temporarily closed during the annual three-day motorsport event, with alternative arrangements to be planned; they do not establish what those arrangements will be.
Perth Park’s February 1, 2026 site notice said the park and its through-path would close during construction, except for a scheduled reopening for the AFL State of Origin on February 14, 2026. At that time, pedestrians were advised to use paths along Camfield Drive, Victoria Park Drive and the Casino precinct, and to allow extra walking time from the south.
