Pakistan’s reported sales of cars and related vehicle categories rose to 23,055 in January 2026, up 35.5% from 17,010 a year earlier, according to Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) data reported by Mettis Global. That total includes passenger cars as well as LCVs, vans and jeeps; passenger cars alone accounted for 18,602 sales.
How many vehicles were sold in Pakistan in January 2026?
PAMA-attributed member-company sales totaled 23,055 vehicles in January 2026, compared with 17,010 in January 2025. Mettis Global reported the figures on February 10, 2026, attributing them to PAMA. What does the 35.5% increase compare?
The 35.5% rise is year on year: January 2026 versus January 2025. It is distinct from the month-on-month increase. January sales were 73.6% higher than the 13,280 vehicles reported in December 2025. The two growth rates use different baselines, so the larger monthly increase does not mean the year-on-year figure was 73.6%.

The overall increase was driven by the passenger-car category’s rise, while combined sales of LCVs, vans and jeeps fell below January 2025. The aggregate total should therefore not be read as growth in every vehicle type.

How do January’s figures compare with the fiscal-year trend?
For July 2025 through January 2026 (7MFY26), reported sales reached 111,368 units, compared with 77,645 in the same seven months a year earlier, a 43.4% increase. Passenger cars totaled 84,512, up 44.9%; LCVs, vans and jeeps totaled 26,856, up 39.1%.
This cumulative comparison provides a broader window than January alone, but it remains a tally of reported PAMA member-company data. PAMA describes its archive as monthly production and sales statistics; the figures should not automatically be treated as a complete count of every vehicle sale in Pakistan. Its monthly production and sales archive describes a series running from July 2007 through June 2026. The official December 2025 table lists 7MFY26 car sales at 65,910 against 46,502 in 7MFY25; January’s reported figures extend that cumulative period.

Why did car sales increase in Pakistan in January 2026?
The cited January figures establish the size of the increase, but the available reporting does not substantiate a specific cause. The data alone cannot show whether financing, consumer confidence, prices, policy changes or particular models drove the result. TechJuice also reported the increase, but its causal characterizations are not supported by named-source evidence in the cited coverage. TechJuice’s account is a secondary report, not independent proof of why sales rose.
